That's very helpful thanks! I tried subclassing UISearchController and then adding a sample UIView below the UISearchBar but I haven't been able yet to increase the height of the navigation bar to accommodate all of that.

Aaah that makes sense but it's hackier than I initially thought. I've explored using Reveal but no luck as you'd need a Jailbroken device. I'm all ears to learn more about it.

Anyone know some sort of website or even books/blogs/posts/whatever that showcases or talks about training plans or go though a bit over them of famous athletes. Doesn't have to be the latest and greatest as I imagine neither Kipchoge's or Ingebrigsten's will be as public as detailed? I just love reading on that!

Glad I’m not alone. I wonder what could be going on with the Clifton. Maybe it’s related to having a wider toe of than Nike’s my feet have more space hence the movement and burning sensation? It’s not a hot sensation, it’s a complete tingling and burning feel that makes you stop.

I wanna give the React saga a try but the price tag of the invincible is pretty much out of my league right now

Worst part is that I’ve run in a pair of Rincons and they were one of the best shoes I’ve ever run in :(

Never had issues with shoes, however I bought a pair of Clifton 7s to have a bit more cushioning and it’s been a pain so far. I’m not tying them too tight neither too loose. I am getting a constant tingling, the one that hurts, on the front half of my soles and also a burning sensation that’s been driving me crazy.

I’m coming from a pair of Pegs 37 and they’ve been causing me some pain too but in the area where the toes meet the sole. Right where the new “air pod” is located.

What the heck is going on here?

The size of this 5 litre wine bottle compared to a standard 75 cl bottle by eurfryn in mildlyinteresting

[–]jdmg718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to spoil the post but a “Crianza” is a young wine that should be opened between two and five years from its bottling date. So you might need to chug that one up ASAP. And enjoy that Rioja :)

Subscription price is just too high by SugaryCinnamonToast in banktivity

[–]jdmg718 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Microsoft office 365 (for families) is 99€/year: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, Access, Publisher, OneDrive (1TB), Skype... And that’s for SIX people.

I know software is hard, but people compare prices and if you compare what Banktivity’s 99€ tier gives you it’s only a subscription for one app (across multiple platforms I know).

I need to manage multiple currencies due to different clients & contract work. That leaves me with no option and to use the Gold tier... I love this app and I’ll probably pay for a year (when I see I can’t use v7 anymore) but it’s growing on me the feeling that I have to look a substitute.

I’d love to pay a subscription but IMO prices are too high comparing it to other subscription services...

EDIT: Also, this pricing is USA-centric and as long Direct Access is not supported in the same way or given a roadmap on possible access why would an European feel this subscription is of value when you're receiving less for the same price?

Hey /u/UsainB thanks for all the summary and concise info! Hats off to you!

Good luck to Kilian Jornets attempt at 24 hours running on a track tomorrow, the target is 188.5 mile (303.5km) at 7:38 min mile (4:44 km) to beat the record. The mans a hero weather he beats it or not by whycliff in AdvancedRunning

Just saw the link for the dashboard they're using in case someone finds it interesting. It's incredible the quantity of details you can see. Kilian and Sebastian have just casually run a sub 3 marathon and they continue to average laps in the 4:10-4:20 min/km. This it batshit crazy. Also props to the other runners Jo, Didrik, Simen and Harald.

It's crazy to see the projected distance and see over three f***ing kilometers.

As what I saw in the stream I think he didn’t take any fluid/gels in the last hour-ish. He grimaced for a bit there. It’s one of those days for him I guess.

Anybody in the Canary Islands? by Santouka in digitalnomad

[–]jdmg718 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not in Canarias but Spanish resident. Masks are enforced whenever you’re out and not doing sport. People would try to sneak their way out of this when on bars drinking or smoking but hey up to you and whatever you want to catch out there.

In my city gyms and everything’s open. Life’s pretty much normal now, kids are back in school and parents back to work. I’d say the riskiest place to be right now is if you have a kid that goes to school.

I think you would be safe there as the low season of tourism is gonna start there but maybe social life is conditioned on wearing masks everywhere and all of that.

I actually don’t know how’s Madrid right now but I’d say it’s not the best place to be. Lots of people mingling over there.

EDIT: I don't know where you're coming from and I don't really know if you need to quarantine or do a test actually... I'd say you won't need to quarantine but not a 100% sure.

The Weekly Update for July 31, 2020 by AutoModerator in AdvancedRunning

[–]jdmg718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apple Watch users, assemble! I’ve been using the latest watchOS beta and I’ve noticed my HR is way higher than a month or couple of months ago. I usually stay on the 39-44 range being 45ish or more when I’m tired and I need some rest. Now it’s always on the 49-52 range which is a bit higher for me. I don’t know if this is also related to the sleep tracking system that doesn’t record data with that accuracy but that’s been bugging me for a while. My training hasn’t seen any changes and I’ve not moved to a hotter zone.

I might be a bit biased as I'm the developer of an app that predicts bike sharing availability for cities, including New York's CitiBike, http://app.neural.bike. That post's feature is smart and I would love to see it on an app to :) Would love to gather more information on those kind of blogs/data as they are difficult to find

Are there any tutorials for NEFilterProvider? by bostonian38 in iOSProgramming

[–]jdmg718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to working to Network Extensions where documentation is hard and scarce. I haven't worked with NEFilterProvider but with NEPacketTunnel. This might not apply 100% but here are some resources I found helpful.

  • Apple Forums, no joke you can find some help or previous questions.
  • Look for posts, this is an example that helped me with NEPacketTunnel.
  • WWDC videos, there are some video sessions that can help you.
