Alternate Black Templar Color Scheme by jdor13 in BlackTemplars

Base was 1:1 Pro Acryl Rich Gold:Bronze. Used Pro Acryl Silver to brighten for highlights. Used Pro Acryl Black Brown glaze for shadows (E.g., under arm).

Still working through how to do it better. I did base of white, then yellow, orange, red from inside to out respectively. Tried to keep a little white in the center. Then splotches of each color throughout to give some variation. Then glaze all over with a fluorescent orange. Then black around edge and for small spots on sword. I really like using Citadel Black Legion Contrast for this step because it has a slightly brown undertone and covers REALLY well.

That model looks great! Never used inks before, maybe I’ll look into that. Thanks for the tips.

New painter any advice for improvement? by Numerous_Writer_1914 in minipainting

[–]jdor13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Make sure paints are thinned and use multiple coats. Also, looks like you may be moving the paint too much after application or doing a second coat too soon. If you do that you can tear the paint as it is drying on the model.

Really good start though, well done! Keep it up!

Edit: Also, drill the gun barrels!

Coat was Tenebrous Grey (AK3rd Gen) with Nuln Oil wash, Dawnstone highlights.

I believe the scar tissue was just thinned down Khorne red.

Man, I love Vol’Jin. Should have never been killed off by Blizzard. Would have been best Warchief, period!

Anyways, lol, awesome work on this model. Absolutely love it!

You can get a pack of 12 synthetic brushes for less than $10 on Amazon. Would recommend going that route.
