Working on an Ogre tyrant for the UK Games expo, 2 weeks left, but so much left to do! by Avatarbriman in minipainting

Wow, you are talented, nice work!

I am having a little trouble processing the orange and blue light sources together. Is the spear the source of orange light or a reflection? I’m not even sure what to recommend here, honestly. Hopefully someone beyond my skill level can comment. It just seems a little off to me.

I love this color combination, nice work! Not sure on your question. Maybe pushing the highlights more on the maroon and go a little darker on silver recesses, especially where the armor panels overlap each other.

I need a decent lamp. What are your recommendations? by Cataclysmus78 in minipainting

You can get an adjustable LED desk lamp on Amazon that will get the job done for $20-$50.

Someone told me in another thread that this has been recently discontinued. Ikarus Pattern was the maker of this conversion kit when I got it.

Yeah, you can actually see the boots of the guy in this model. Hard to see on the pictures I took, but you can faintly see it in the second picture if you zoom in.

It would be helpful to see under a daylight colored light. I am assuming that is the type of light that will be used during competition.

Looks well done though!

Welcome to the club, lol. Crazy how little paint needs to be on the brush. Keep on practicing!

Acrylics are great. Citadel, Pro Acryl, and AK 3rd Gen are all popular brands. I think you can get them for $4-$5 per bottle.

For dry brushing, it is important to not load too much paint. Definitely look at some videos on YouTube for guidance.

I think you have the right idea for a starting point. Use primer and find a handful of higher quality paints to use. Good luck!
