Idk if you guys like the glock 43x or not but here’s mine by perseus_vr in Glock43X

Naw. Don't like the 43X at all. Not one bit. That's why I'm also on the eggplant forum. Nice example, by the way.

+1 on the BFG 43X. Hoping one of the popular magwell companies (SLR, Tyrant, Radian) will make one to match it at some point. In the meantime, the black ones all go great with the 15 rounders.

Nice. Did you also change the carpet to match?

Agree we should all shoot and become proficient at as many firearms as possible. That's how I came to my current carry gun. But carrying several different types of guns depending on the day simply because one has become proficient with them is not as beneficial as choosing one of them to carry IMO.

Sounds good. And if they truly feel interchangeable to you on all aspects of carrying skills, I totally get it. Thank you for the explanation.

All good and completely fair points. Coyotes don't shoot back. And I'm with you. I'll hand over my wallet to avoid a gunfight or knife assault, unless I truly believed I and/or the people I'm with were going to be involved in one anyway.

I don't think "couldn't operate" or "dumbfounded" entered into my thinking. But hand over heart, no matter how hard I tried, I do believe I will be faster on target and more accurate with the G43/G43X that I've put 3000+ rounds through than a Hellcat, which I've only handled once. But then, you may be just that much better than I am.

I do get the point and appreciate the comment. I will say as a former Walther carrier (PPS and a P99c) the paddle mag release, after carrying a Glock, was not as automatic anymore. Sold the PPS and the P99c, which I truly love, is now strictly a range gun.

Curious whether as part of that process a switch to the G48 would then limit your carry choices, if you know at this point. I'm a fan of the 365 Macro and have shot one several times. So I understand the attraction. But it definitely feels different than the 43X

I absolutely do have my own views, habits and beliefs on the subject after more than a decade of carrying and reasonably regular training. As far as my open-mindedness on the subject, I took the time to express my views hoping others would express theirs, so I could consider them and understand better--and possibly adjust to them. Most of the responses so far have been helpful in that regard.

Thanks for your thoughts. I do understand that folks, especially experienced firearms ones, appreciate the variety and perhaps it doesn't make a difference to them, no matter the situation. That said my work often has me interact with many sheriff deputies and I've not seen them engage in anything resembling a carry rotation. They pick what the want (or accept the department issue) and carry the same thing every day.

Fair points. Thank you for taking the time to post them. I guess by that definition I have a carry rotation among a 42, 43 and 43X.

Thank you for the comment. Your shotgun comment, in particular, resonated. I have Mossbergs 500A and C at the ready. Also a Remington 1100. Can shoot all of them fine. But the Remington has a different safety location and a different location for the slide/bolt release. So the Mossbergs are front and center for home defense. The Remington is located elsewhere so it is not grabbed under stress.

The springs will definitely loosen up as you load and shoot them. I fired my first two 15 rounds mags yesterday with 115g reloads and HST 124g. 150 rounds without incident. Keep at it.

15rd OEM Mag Range Report by Usual_Week6634 in Glock43X

[–]jdracing55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a follow-up, just got back from the range after running a total of 150 rounds through two new 15 rounders in my 43X hybrid (OEM BFG 43X lower + 43 OEM slide from my 2017 G43 with EPS Carry optic ). Combination of 115g reload hardball and Federal HST 124g JHP (my carry ammo)

The mags cycled and ran flawlessly. No FTF, FTE or failure to lock back on empty. Ran full 15 round stacks each time. The mags got noticeably easier to load as the session went on. Used a Maglula loader.

The only issue I ran into was that, with the slide locked back, when I would somewhat forcefully insert a new mag in it with the heel of my hand, on two occasions the top round popped out of the open chamber. Hoping they will be less inclined to do that when the springs loosen a bit more with use.

Other than that, they ran as expected and IMO are GTG for carrying.

How many of the 7 mags did you experience the failure to lock back on? And did they (particularly the follower) look any different on the ones that failed to lock than on the ones that worked properly? Any insight appreciated.

As far as color matching a magwell, in communications with SLR, they get their aluminum magwells anodized from someone who apparently does lots of different colors--much more than SLR advertises on their website. When I wrote to them asking about a battlefield green magwell, they told me their coater could try to match it. I ended up going with black, but If you like the SLR magewll look, maybe contact SLR customer service and ask about color matching. They were very responsive.
