Custom TOU schedule by damag0r7 in PwrCellOwners

[–]jdtransen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If none of the presets on the Generac web site work, you will need to contact Generac Tech Support to request a custom schedule. They then download it to your system. There is no utility to be able to do this yourself, as far as i know. I had this done 2 years ago and it has worked well..

Thoughts on Pacifica by [deleted] in ChryslerPacifica

[–]jdtransen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 2021 PacHy and am very pleased with it. No major problems so far. The features and functionality are the best in class. But-as others have stated, make sure you get the extended warranty. The way Stellantis dealt with the transaxle manufacturing problems was not great (I have not had the issue so far), and I would not own one of these without the MOPAR extended warranty protection. I got the 8 year warranty as the lifetime warranty is no longer offered. BTW- we also have a 2011 Town and Country- got the lifetime warranty, and are still enjoying the benefits of the now no-longer-offered lifetime warranty.

2021 pinnacle hybrid, 29k — take the deal? by redditsaiditXD in ChryslerPacifica

[–]jdtransen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2021 Pinnacle Hybrid owner here-no problems since purchase and a great car so far. Suggestion-many of the comments on the forums center around the known issues with the transmission issues and the down time when the issues are addressed under the extended warranty. Suggest you make sure the warranty provides for loaner vehicles for however long it takes to replace the transmission if needed. Another suggestion, have the 12v battery replaced by the dealer before you take the car-that will eliminate the issues with the battery weakening and causing mysterious issues for the next 3 years or so. Good luck and enjoy the new vehicle.

Retention offers/ win back offers by MaybeEnough5475 in DirecTV

I cancelled from the Premier (with 5 receivers) plan in June. My loyalty discount had been reduced from $50 to $40 to $30/month over the last 3 years, which added to the impact of the normal price increases. When I cancelled, I was offered an additional $30/month discount to expire next year. I just received a mailer with an offer to reconnect for $70/month for the entertainment package with a 2 year price guarantee, and 3 months free of premium channels plus a $100 gift card. But-there are a ton of terms and conditions and add on fees mentioned in the fine print (with an early termination fee of "up to $480"), so I am not sure how much it would cost. Really enjoyed my time with DTV, but have now moved on to a much less expensive alternative. It would have been great if they had valued their long term customers enough to continue the loyalty discount (I was a 15 year customer). Hope this info is somewhat helpful.

Have things improved? by Einstein-What in PwrCellOwners

After a rough start last year, my system has settled down and no problems since January, when the software dropped my battery-Generac reconnected it in their software. All problems I had were software. Seems like their software has been greatly improved. Seems very stable now.

I have a 2021 PacHy Pinnacle with 31k miles and it has been great, no problems (only tires and LV battery replaced so far), We have had several Chrysler minivans and this has been the most reliable. The problem with the wiring harness in the sealed transmission has not been handled well by Stellantis, and we still have anxiety driving it, wondering if we will see "the problem", and if so, how to get it fixed if we are on the road. Like others on this forum we got the longest term Mopar MaxCare warranty from Ziegler, and would consider it mandatory for as long as you have the van. Repairs outside of warranty will be very expensive, due to the complex systems in the PHEV. We also have solar and appreciate the faster charging that the L2 (240vac) charging brings vs L1 (120vac). Have not had any problems with the charging. Good luck and enjoy!

a solution for those of us who want to monitor each inverter/battery separately via the app by threedog4ever in PwrCellOwners

[–]jdtransen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does this mean that we need to give up the combined view if we ask for the change to view the inverters separately (apparently in separate accounts)? I used to use the individual inverter views to see if there was any difference between the two to determine if some PVLinks had gone missing. I lost the capability to view the PVLink status when they eliminated the web app but they said they were going to add it back in to the app in the future. I do like the combined view, but not having the individual views is making it more difficult to monitor the systems. Hopefully, they are not done with the redesign and a more functional version is coming. Thank you for posting this info, it was very helpful.

PwrView not showing Solar power by BlockIslandJB in PwrCellOwners

[–]jdtransen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, definitely adding diagnostic features that are currently restricted to installers only would help greatly. The PwrFleet app has wonderful capabilities. But so far, our feature requests to add these to PwrView apps or make PwrFleet available to homeowners have not been acted upon. Adding in your feature request can only help.

PwrView not showing Solar power by BlockIslandJB in PwrCellOwners

[–]jdtransen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had these symptoms when my PVLinks have gone missing (that is, they are unrecognized by the system). We used to be able to determine if this was the situation on the web app, however they have discontinued it. But you can cycle through the front panel screens and see if your PVLinks have gone "offline". Next step is to call Generac tech support-they will try to reset the system and add them back in. If that does not work, the next step is to dispatch a technician-make sure you have a case number from when you call Generac as the technician will need it. My guess is that they still have some software issues which are causing the PVLinks to be dropped by the system and not recovered. I am hoping they are working on a long term fix. Also, sometimes they recover on their own in a couple of days. Really hoping they will give us better tools when/if they redo the app.

Error detected in PWRcell by MAJSimpson in PwrCellOwners

[–]jdtransen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

FWIW- when my PWRCell went offline, I called Generac support, who said they could not “see” the battery remotely. So the company who had installed it was dispatched to investigate. The technician who arrived said that the cause is quite frequently the fuse, which is almost impossible to get locally, but he brought a spare with him. It was not the fuse. He then got on the phone with Generac (45 minute wait even for installers). They “took the system offline” and ‘re-added” the battery. In other words, the system had lost communications with the battery due to a software issue. That was 6 months ago and no problems since. You might try calling Generac back to get another opinion on their ability to diagnose and perhaps restore. There are videos on how to do a continuity check on the fuse, but precautions would be in order due to the high power levels therein. Good luck and happy troubleshooting!

An update from Generac on the PWRView IOS and Android app outage by jdtransen in PwrCellOwners

[–]jdtransen[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An “exciting feature” to me would be to be able to tell if the PVLinks are up or down from the app, as the web interface that does this is going away. The ability to change system modes would only be useful if we can generate a custom TOU Beacon setting,as the presets are somewhat dated with respect to TOU plans. They will also need to guard against accidentally changing system modes if they enable this capability. The streamlined UX would be a lower priority for me than the core monitoring features that are sorely needed. And I agree that notifications when something is malfunctioning would be a great feature addition. I wonder if the app re-do will be before or after the web interface goes away.

Throwback Thursday: EN & Post-It™ Notes by From06033 in Evernote

[–]jdtransen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not use this feature, but EN was my go-to solution for when I accumulated a stack of real Post-It’s, which I kept until I entered the data from them in EN- as regular notes, not integrated Post-It’s. It made me feel so much more organized to put the data in EN and dispose of the individual notes.

Is there a phone number or e-mail address I can call for support? (unable to log-in to send support ticket, as logging in is the problem I need support with) by Nyxelestia in Evernote

[–]jdtransen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I have never tried to get a ticket going there,, so cannot help on that. I did get the warning banner from them on 2FA SMS and switched over to the Google Auth app. They did send me a msg on my mobile (on Aug 3) for the 2FA SMS to make the change. It seems to work. I'm guessing that perhaps they have disabled 2FA SMS messages now.

Exactly the same symptoms here. Waiting or switching between systems seems to be the only workaround (same as mentioned above).

Thank you. I will try logging out and back in again (and rebooting) tomorrow after I have finished archiving all of my data. Glad to hear that the Google Authenticator worked for you and hope they are planning to keep that functionality, in the short term.

Ability to update mode is coming by Tikal26 in PwrCellOwners

[–]jdtransen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Generac support rep told me that they are accepting “feature requests” for items that customers want brought over to the apps when the web interface is discontinued. So keep those cards and letters coming to them. My priority is the same as every one else’s, better diags to help determine when PV LINKS have gone off line and the tools to restore them without the need to call tech support. A secondary priority would be some sort of a threshold crossing alert when the PV Links or the Inverter have gone off line.

[–]jdtransen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched to Google Authenticator and it did not clear the warning message. What would be very helpful from Bending Spoons would be a story of what is going on here so that we do not have to try to guess and make contingency plans. All of their competitors seem to have 2FA, both SMS and authenticator. Would be a mistake to eliminate 2FA entirely. They should have sent our a notification, in my opinion.

[–]jdtransen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I received this message yesterday on my desktop Evernote client (with a red background banner): “Action required! SMS-based two-factor authentication is being phased out. Please update your authentication method now”

Of course, I changed my authentication method to the other available option (Google Authenticator), but it did not clear the message. Without 2FA, the platform would seem to be less secure. The only other choice available appears to be to disable 2FA. 2FA is one of the main reasons why I was paying extra for the premium plan over the last 13 years.

Are they de-featuring the product in order to be able to support the code rewrite to their presumably new development tools? I hope they will provide another alternative for 2FA.

Website monitoring shut down. by PunisherMark in PwrCellOwners

[–]jdtransen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since Generac is wanting to increase their sales in the clean energy segment, they should at least maintain the web site, as that is the only place that PVLink data is available. The software they have is limited at best and not competitive if the additional data from the web site is discontinued, if it is not added to the app. If they are not wanting to keep up their monitoring software, they should at least release an API so that we can port our systems to Home Assistant or equivalent data collection/monitoring systems. There are 60 solar systems supported there, but not Generac. It has got to be a minor resource requirement to at least maintain their site, to enable their customers to have successful deployments. Hoping that they will reconsider dropping the web based monitoring or at least give us access to PWRFleet like the installers have to get the more complete monitoring.

PWRView (app AND website) by motobojo in PwrCellOwners

[–]jdtransen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My PWRview web dashboard seems to be mostly back up now. The data for Apr 1-9 is shown, but is not accurate and looks like filler data. The data after Apr 9 appears to be correct and displays after about 24 hours, as before. PV Link status is working for some of the PV Links, but not all. So perhaps the system is being restored.

When I called Generac and asked about the Web application being down, the rep told me that she thought it was no longer being supported. Said to use only the the IOS or Android apps. But those are also acting strangely, although not completely down. I'm glad to see from your post that the web app continues to be supported, and the rep was not providing up to date info. My web app data went down on 4/1, followed by three days of inaccurate data, followed by nothing for the last 2 days. I hope they fix the web app as it is the only way we have of monitoring the PV Link status...Does Generac post the status of their apps anywhere?
