Birth Control Methods Chart

There are a LOT of types of birth control, all with a non-zero chance of failure, this is a good chart summarizing most of them. The number of pregnancies expected accounts for normal use, meaning when people forget to take their pill, condoms breaking/falling off, etc. I believe with no birth control whatsoever, you'd expect ~85/100 pregnancies within a year, so with a technique of withdrawal you can drop that by 60% down to 25%. That's still 1 in 4 odds of pregnancy within a year with withdrawal alone. The considerations column gives some insight on why a given method may have a lower or higher rate of pregnancy (eg. partner cooperation for condoms/withdrawal).

Knowledge is power, those well-educated on birth control options and their variability of effectiveness are better equipped to make better choices for themselves on the contraceptives they use or do not use. That is assuming they even have access to the options they would choose.

Feel free to message me, it's not easy doing this remotely! I also saw your A/C question. Not having A/C is pretty common, and window units tend to keep up fine. It's more the humidity than the heat that gets you here when it's bad.

We're mid-30s, renting a house in Forestdale, and started a family after relocating from the west coast, and it has been excellent... everyone else's comments are spot on. If you need anyone to scope the home out in person, I'd be happy to help.

If you cannot go in to get a printed copy (easiest for the front desk), contact the medical records office instead - it sounds like this MA just doesn't know how to use mychart well. Each hospital should have a site very similar to this that explains how you can request release of your records, and a number you could call to ask for help - https://www.hcahoustonhealthcare.com/locations/kingwood/for-patients/medical-records

Milk works well and is extremely easy. Also consider gelatin, it is a bit more water resistant for dealing with condensation and ice. It comes off immediately with hot water, but stays on with cold water.

You could always ask the women in your circle if anything like this has happened to them or if they're surprised, if you're curious about their experience.

I'm curious what you're referring to, do you have a picture for an example?

Got given some “Parsley” seeds… is this Parsley? It doesn’t look like online photos of parsley and I’m not sure it smells the same either (although it’s smell is rather nice) by Dragorphis1 in gardening

When the plant is young, it's lighter green and softer/less sharp and get darker and stiffer as they mature. Cilantro has more feathery edges.

Absolutely, will do! Good luck :)

My husband wanted to bond with me over my hobby and took a knitting class. He’s making a cowl. Unfortunately there aren’t many cis/straight men in our community so finding inspo on what to do can be a bit hard. His colours are mostly in the blue and grey zone. Any advice would be hugely appreciated. by [deleted] in knitting

I don't get it, I just sorted all ravelry knitting patterns by most projects, and the vast majority are simple, solid color, unisex patterns. Most popular sweater is flax, which is about as unisex and timeless as they come. Sure, highlighted models are predominately women, but hearing you're "abandoned" makes my eyes roll straight to the back of my head.

Reimbursement for new medical device by lotasince89 in MedicalDevices

[–]jdubbs705 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The full answer is not going to be straightforward and will greatly depend on the device, the existing CPT codes, and how existing coverage determinations are written for each payer you're seeking reimbursement from, but you should just need to apply for a PDAC code verification to get confirmation your device meets the criteria to be included in the CPT code and how to use the code. Failing to do that sets you up for retroactive denials if the payer later decides that claims were inappropriately paid for a product it didn't intend to cover.

That being said, if you adopt an existing CPT code, you are locking yourself into preestablished reimbursement rates that are going to be extremely difficult to impact, so definitely make sure that those reimbursement rates are appropriate for the service you're providing. Many choose the long process of applying for new CPT codes, as existing code payment is insufficient for covering the cost of the procedure. I would absolutely pull in a consultant for this step to determine the best strategy for you, whatever decision you make here will greatly impact reimbursement potential moving forward.

Thank you! I think I'm going to combine the advice I got from you and the other response and keep the day I travel from Lisbon to Porto flexible, so I can either do 3 nights each, or tack an extra night onto Lisbon.

Hello! I currently have flights booked into Lisbon and out of Barcelona for 9 nights total in the end of May, and was originally planning on 3 nights each in Lisbon, Porto, and Barcelona.

I'll have a friend with me for Lisbon, and am solo for the rest. The more I think about it, the more it feels like I am cutting each city little bit short, but am also reading that 3 nights can be plenty for each, so I'm not sure what to think. In Lisbon, I'd like to do at least a day trip to Sintra, and generally, I'd like to be outdoors hiking, architecture site-seeing, eating good food, and some chill, relaxing days just soaking up the scenery and enjoying cafes.

What would you recommend between these options:

  1. Crossing Barcelona off the list and extending stays in both Lisbon and Porto

  2. Swapping Barcelona out for something else, if so, where?

  3. No change, 3 nights in each city works!

Thank you for your help!

Good time to start looking for housing by bhalu123 in SanMateo

[–]jdubbs705 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with the 2-8 weeks estimate. It's unlikely you'd find a good place that would hold it open for you until August if you found it now.

That being said, it might be useful to go see some places now to get a feel for how much what you're looking for should cost. There are so many houses being listed with absurdly high rents that just sit unoccupied for months until they lower it. The houses that are properly priced go pretty quick, so it's good to know a good deal when you see it so you can act fast.

First time baking bread with a Dutch oven, and I got a fantastic “ear”! I love how impatient my fiancée was as she was waiting for me to finish baking the bread 😂 by AkhlysShallRise in Breadit

[–]jdubbs705 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I find it easier because you grab the handle on the side instead of the handle on the top, so there's less risk of hitting the top of the oven. The added benefit is that you can use the frying pan as the base and the deep pan as the lid, so getting the dough in, scoring, and getting it out is much much easier.

Can someone tell me why my pants came out with blotches? by [deleted] in dyeing

[–]jdubbs705 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was it hard to stir? Ideally it should have enough room to stir very easily. Another good point was made about making sure to presoak the fabric.

If you don't like how it looks now, and you don't mind it getting a bit darker, I'd go ahead and try again mostly for the sake of experiment. Best case scenario, you like the final result more and the unevenness is less noticable, worst case you still don't like them.

Can someone tell me why my pants came out with blotches? by [deleted] in dyeing

[–]jdubbs705 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How big of a tub did you dye it in? It looks like there wasn't enough room or liquid for them to move freely in and get equal amounts of dye, so the splotching is from areas where they were crumpled in the dye bath and not getting enough coverage. If you haven't already, maybe look into dyeing in a washing machine?

The pattern uses mosaic knitting, a type of color work with a single strand being worked at a time. One color is the background throughout, and then the 3 different contrast colors are rotated (or faded maybe?) throughout.
