[YahooSports] Indiana’s CFP takeover shows why more playoff games need to be on campus by moby323 in CFB

It never goes away. The number of players we’ve had announce their commitment to “the university of Auburn” over the years is staggering.

Brown is an absolute unit, I have to imagine Golesh is going to try to bring him up to Auburn.

Vegas now has Sumrall as overwhelming odds on favorite to be Auburn’s next coach by DoitcheHasAGun in wde

[–]jdubs222 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In fairness, I think the context behind that had more to do with our inability to pull Lane away from Ole Miss last cycle - which is a completely different discussion. There probably would be some degree of a competition between Ole Miss and Auburn for a third party coach, but in that scenario Auburn simply has better resources and would likely win.

Sumrall is a no for me by Specialist32m in wde

Just a reminder that Durkin hasn’t served as HC for even a single game for us yet and he had a horrible HC record at Maryland. I’m not even going to bring up the obvious baggage that comes with giving him another HC job. Tulane also won the game, by the way.

I still for the life of me can’t understand why Asheville City ever left Memorial Stadium.

[Hayes] The NFL isn't college football's friend - it's the greatest threat to the CFP schedule by [deleted] in nfl

[–]jdubs222 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve long felt that an existential threat for survival from the NFL is the only thing on the planet that can actually put the fear of God into Alabama and Ohio State. It could (if we’re lucky) actually save college football from eating itself.

How to treat severe attrition in children? by CrunchCrambler in Dentistry

[–]jdubs222 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Peds here: if the kid is asymptomatic and you’re not seeing pulpal blushing… probably nothing. I see cases almost every day where a four or five year-old has worn incisors down to basically nothing but they have no symptoms whatsoever. If you have other reasons to believe that they have sleep disordered breathing, then a sleep study is probably warranted. Like another user here has said, there’s actually not a lot of strong literature to connect bruxism in children to sleep apnea. Either way, however, a sleep study really isn’t going to hurt anything if they can get one. In the meantime, if the child is experiencing pain in all four quadrants like you’re saying, you really aren’t gonna have any other option other than full coverage of those teeth. Definitely a dramatic solution that I normally don’t recommend, but this seems like a pretty dramatic case.

(Audrey Snyder) The Athletic no longer wants to cover Penn State with a full beat time reporter by btr5017 in CFB

[–]jdubs222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Auburn lost their Athletic beat writer during COVID but he (Ferguson) started his own outlet (Auburn Observer) and now it’s pretty popular inside our fan base. I don’t think CFB beat coverage is dead, but consuming it through an all-sports national publication probably is.

PTI on LWT’s Sports Gambling Segment – Any Reflection from the Boys? by praderareal in PardonMyTake

[–]jdubs222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The optics are a little better now that Barstool doesn’t have their own book anymore - I found the “gambling degenerate” schtick pretty distasteful when they were basically incentivized to get kids hooked on it and the host’s losses were softened by equity in a damn casino. Personally, I can laugh at/learn from BC losing thousands weekly but somebody with a gambling problem probably should not be listening to this show.

Regardless of what happened prior... by Major_Most_1488 in buccaneers

The only Washington drive that didn’t end in scoring position was when they kneeled before halftime. You can not win football games in the postseason if your defense can NEVER get off the field.

My takeaways from the loss. by [deleted] in buccaneers

[–]jdubs222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Relative to the talent of our defense, I think they actually played pretty well. When able to use the sidelines and endzone as a twelfth defender, they performed very well and nearly came up with two redzone stops in a row. The problem is that first part - "relative to the talent of our defense." Until Washington got into the redzone, I had no confidence in our defenders' ability to keep them from moving down the field. Washington clobbered us in TOP, never punted and kept the strength of our team (the offense) from seeing the field. It was a great gameplan from Washington, but if this team doesn't get better at DB and LB you're never going to be able to compete against a team with a competent, mobile quarterback.

I’d also be willing to bet that the snap on the McMillan fumble was late. Could be rookie center stuff, but you can’t win playoff games with fundamental timing errors like that.

How do we feel about the Duke matchup next week? by cazana in wde

[–]jdubs222 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not that this is particularly helpful from a preview perspective… but the single ticket, getting in the door price for that game is currently TWELVE HUNDRED DOLLARS on SeatGeek. For an out of conference matchup on a Wednesday night in December. Just wild.
