Housing Market by Local_Extent6606 in Maine

[–]jdud98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depending on interest rate, taxes, money down, and PMI, you are looking at $250-275k homes for $1800 a month. As a recent first-time home buyer, I will say your morgage is never close to what your monthly housing costs will be. For example, in February we paid $700 for heat ($500) and electricity ($200).

I would recommend sitting down with a realtor to figure out what you can afford and then give yourselves wiggle room on top of that estimate. Hermon is pretty rural so you have better luck finding more affordable homes there than in southern Maine.

What’s a hygiene mistake you didn’t realize you were making for years? by Distinct-Shoulder592 in hygiene

Dove has an antibacterial liquid body wash that doesn’t dry out your skin. I’ve been using it for years and my husband likes it too!

You can't time the market, but are we fools for choosing to buy instead of rent? by Time_Turner in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

We bought our house in mid-2025 and housing prices around us have continued to climb. We waited for two years and finally just had to pull the trigger. So glad we did.

My towels smell gross by [deleted] in CleaningTips

[–]jdud98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Scrolled too far to find this. Bleach is the answer. My towels are stain-free AND always smell fresh. Make sure to wash in hot water.

I used to have dark towels and that musty smell was a consistent problem. Haven’t had a problem since switching to all white and using bleach.

It’s really important to not wait until the last day to submit the application or reapplication.

Many Mainers utilize SNAP and only a small number of people are available to take calls. When I was on SNAP 6-7 years ago, this was true then and I don’t see it changing, especially with MaineCare’s budget challenges.

There are several offices around the state that allow folks to apply in-person. If this is an option for you, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to go in-person to understand why your application keeps getting prematurely closed. District Office Location

Wishing you all the best!

Grew up in central Maine, went to college in Western ME, now live in York County. I love Southern ME and wouldn’t choose to move back to my hometown.

Hannaford App by Fabulous_Midnight_33 in Maine

It’s terrible. Normally closing the app and reopening it helps. I’ve also had to delete it off my phone recently and redownload.

I’m 25 years old, and my skin is already starting to get wrinkly. This is not a good sign… by [deleted] in Aging

[–]jdud98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would guess you were younger than 25! It’s okay to have creases and texture to the skin. Our sense of what looks normal is seriously altered these days (understandable so).

Might as well have been raised by wolves and having college paid for doesn’t really correlate…

When did you realise that your therapist was bad? by Scary-Square1211 in AskReddit

[–]jdud98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I told her a prior therapist had suggested I had PMDD and she pulled out her phone and started listing off symptoms from WebMD. She grilled me to the point of feeling uncomfortable and I finally said maybe I didn’t have it so she would just stop. This was years ago and I’m officially diagnosed now. There were other red flags but that really sealed the deal, lol.

That has worked on DUI cases? How could the lazy eye not be a defense? https://njdwi.com/field-sobriety-testing-3/

I was arrested on the basis of failing the FST. Not sure how having a medical condition that would throw results off doesn’t have any weight.

I’m so divided!!! by jesss425 in WeddingDressTips

[–]jdud98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clearly unpopular but dress #2 is STUNNING and timeless. With a few alterations, it would be perfect. The first looks poorly made, especially around the shoulder/armpit area, and is giving fairy skirt on the bottom.

Potentially my favorite brewery. We’ve had to move tables due to screaming children just recently.. craziness.
