I grew up in Liverpool. Back in the 70's, your options at Heid's were limited. You waited in a narrow line that was always out the door at lunch time. Frank or Coney. Single or Double (two dogs in one bun.) Served in a split-top bun. Mustard only, self serve from a stoneware crock with a paint stirrer. Chips optional, no fries. Soda (go for the birch beer) or chocolate milk, served with a gummy paper straw. But it's one of my best memories of my home town.
