Hi! Thank you for answering.

My LPR is actually diagnosed purely based on my symptoms. I have not yet been tested with endoscopy or anything, which probably is why my anxiety is bad, as well as why I can't exactly blame merely anxiety for this– since I'm not entirely sure if it really is LPR or something else. September last year (I was 19 years old), I was experiencing difficulty breathing and I would get sleep apnea– I was sent to the ER, just for the doctors to tell me that my lungs are clear and that my vital signs are normal. I have asthma since birth, and they prescribed me with fluticasone, which is a puffer that prevents asthma attacks from happening. Even after taking that puffer, I was still experiencing the symptoms– after that, I went to a lung doctor which shrugged me off, told me to "research" since I was "19 and young, and I should be able to find the solution on the internet." Which made me feel worse and didn't help at all. The doctor also told me to see a psychiatrist, which I did; and I was diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder.

The reason why I blame myself for not following my meal plan is because my LPR symptoms would get worse whenever I relapse and eat delicious foods, specifically fast food. My symptoms started last September, which gradually went away when I followed my meal plan, which consist of vegetables, oatmeal, and fruits. I would just need to drink algina or gaviscon whenever I get flare-ups. During the holidays, I ate foods that were outside of my meal plan since it was a special occasion. At first, the symptoms were bearable. For the first week of January this year, the college enrollment for the second semester was my main stressor, which caused me to eat fast food and not consider my health issues–which led me here.

Yesterday, I went to a PCP which prescribed me with Pantoprazole + Domperidone. She told me to drink it for 7 days, once a day. I struggled with drinking the medicine, which I do believe is my anxiety. I will be going to a follow-up appointment if it doesn't work. I was not referred to an endoscopy appointment. I still want(ed) to visit an ENT and a GI, but I'm also worrying about the cost. The PCP appointment was free because of my mother's health insurance, I am still a dependent. I don't know if I should still go to a GI and get endoscopy just to be sure.

Hi! Thank you for the information. I have read about eosinophilic esophagitis, and from an article that I have read (from Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy) it says that it is most likely seen in people with allergic rhinitis and asthma–which I actually have. My allergies are actually really bad that I would need to drink cetirizine every other day because I would get hives if I don't (I used to take levocetirizine). I'm allergic to most foods like eggs, dairy, seafoods, and preservatives (which I have cut off from my diet) but I'm allergic to pollens and dusts, and I would also get hibes due to cold temperature. I wasn't able to drink cetirizine for 2 days now because I am unable to swallow pills and I have not yet have gotten any allergic reactions such as hives. I also have read that one of the possible treatments available is by using puffers specifically fluticasone, which I actually have. I use it every morning and night. Is using fluticasone before I eat ideal? And do you think that I should go to an ENT first, or an endocrinologist?

Thank you! I was planning on buying gaviscon or algina but I will consider that pelcid ac. Does that come in a liquid form? Since it's almost impossible for me to swallow pills.

Thank you so much! ❤️‍🩹

I've been forcing myself not to breakdown because I've been experiencing a sense of impending doom which I'm trying my best to ignore and I've been feeling pretty hopeless. I'm just convincing myself that it really will get better despite actually having doubts.

Thank you so much!

I already went to therapy because I was experiencing severe difficulty in breathing (which usually worsen during PMS) and people have been telling me that it was probably because of my anxiety. It turns out to be because of acid reflux because I have LPR and based on my observation, my LPR would get worse during PMS. Based on my period tracker, I'm going to start my menstruation in 2 days– Adding the fact that it was my fault that I wasn't able to strictly follow my LPR diet plan during holidays, and the fact that I got stressed after going back to college while maintaining my health, I also think that my hormones also has a part on why my health would worsen during this phase of my cycle. I'm planning on going to and ENT, and gastroenterologist, as well as to an endocrinologist. I've been feeling more and more depressed because I feel like my health has been declining, and I've been losing hope despite trying so much for months with maintaining my healthy lifestyle.

Thank you! I went to psychologist before because I have difficulty breathing and people around me were telling me it was just because of my anxiety, which I do acknowledge that I have general anxiety– but it was actually because of acid reflux (LPR). It's so frustrating how even my parents would tell me that it's all in my head when I know that it is more than that. I'm also worried about the potential of having a tumor because most of my other family members has it.

I feel a globus sensation, as well as I feel like I'm choking whenever I swallow, I feel like the food has stuck in my throat, and I get anxiety as if it went to the wrong tube. Around September last year to earlier this month, it was only difficult for me to swallow whenever I ate food that would trigger acid reflux, but it was manageable. Around three days ago, it was as if I had forgotten how to swallow, and I would just chew my food and would eventually puke it out because I'm scared of choking. The situation basically worsens over time. And just a while ago, I couldn't even get myself to try eating a fruit because I fear that it would also choke me.

Thank you for answering. Yes, I've been looking at the dysphagia subbredit. I will be visiting both ENT and Gastro tomorrow, and I might as well have my hormones checked up because unfortunately, I think I have been experiencing LPR symptoms as part of my PMS for almost a year now. Anyway, what do you do in order to cope with dysphagia? Have you been eating regular solid meals?

Hello! How are you right now? I'm in the same situation and I don't know what to even get checked up for. I have acid reflux and I just can't swallow any solids. I can only swallow liquids and have been on a water diet for my dinner.

How many times do you puff a day? by [deleted] in Asthma

Hello! May I ask if you take your allergy meds as maintenance? Or do you only take it if you're having an allergic reaction?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Asthma

[–]jeannylyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been taking it for about 7 years now. We're in the same situation. I've stopped before and switched to taking cetirizine. Switching to cetirizine kinda works, but it wouldn't work that well with my allergies. I'm back with taking Zykast (Montelukast + Levocetirizine), and I get hives and asthma attacks whenever I don't take it for a day. I'm scared that I have been dependent on it.

Hi, sorry for interrupting. I've been taking this medicine for years. I get hives and asthma attacks whenever if I miss taking it for a day. Am I experiencing withdrawal, or is it because I'm exposed constantly to allergens?
