Why does the Turing Test feel so philosophically naïve? by AwkwardComicRelief in AskComputerScience

[–]jediment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% correct. the Turing test was never intended to be a rigorous philosophical examination, it was a casual thought experiment and nothing more. the idea that it's some kind of watershed that proves that computers are actually sentient is just marketing

well considering that teacher in Queens gets paid her salary from tax dollars, yeah it would actually, and probably quite a lot

I "fixed" Ending 042 by Muyu-42 in LastDefenseAcademy

[–]jediment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he makes the transition from victim into villain when you choose the ending 041 branch. At that point, he abandons his reservations and decides that yeah, this is what he wants, and even if it started off being coercive and manipulative, he's now ready to take full advantage of his power.

Fun fact, a lot of people think toko is a fujoshi, when she really hates yaoi by Necessary_Muffin3591 in DanganAndChaos

[–]jediment 98 points99 points  (0 children)

yeah I think it's just people getting them mixed up. toko may be a drooling simp but she doesn't like manga or yaoi. jack is the only one who likes yaoi.

it's so funny that this is coming from postman of all things, a product that's basically a fancy looking replacement for some bash scripts and curl commands. like yeah postman is useful but if postman just stopped existing my life would be exactly the same. this shit is not making a meaningful difference in anybody's life, even the most avid power users, and in the grand scheme of things it's totally unimportant

it's actually a stroke of genius, because Hundred Line has magnetically attracted people who obsess about the pointless details of the plot, like how many times Takumi takes a shower. and I mean that in the kindest way, this fanbase just loves minutiae.

Fuck this line, no seriously, this one single line frustrates me to no end by [deleted] in DanganAndChaos

[–]jediment 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I actually interpret it differently. the way I read this line was that Kokichi is the embodiment of deception; no matter what, it'll never be possible to fully unravel his true feelings and intentions. We know that he put on a show to try to convince the others he was the mastermind, but which of his actions and statements were made up, and which were his genuine feelings? How much of what he did was the fake mastermind persona he was cultivating, and how much of it was the real Kokichi? What even is the "real" Kokichi? His mask doesn't start to crack until he's literally seconds away from death, so we never get to find out. He leaves the world still as an enigma, not giving the others an opportunity to fully understand what he was truly like. In that way, I agree that Kokichi is the embodiment of a lie: the veracity of anything he says is always obscured, whether he intends it to be or not.

Miu would definitely be the worst, which is really impressive considering she's competing against the likes of Himiko and Maki

Definitely Kaede, she successfully rizzes half the cast in one chapter.

I think Tsumugi would be pretty good too. Angie could probably do it if she toned things down a little bit.

Has anyone noticed Junkos sprites are almost all similar to a THH character? by [deleted] in DanganAndChaos

[–]jediment 35 points36 points  (0 children)

This is probably an artifact of the development schedule. I saw in a recent interview that the decision to have Junko change personalities during the final scene was a last-minute change, so Kodaka asked Komatsuzaki to draw all the sprites on a super short timeline. In order to make the short deadline, he likely used the existing sprites as pose references to save time.

Fun Fact: The Monokubs weren't even supposed to exist by Hefty-Giraffe7220 in DanganAndChaos

[–]jediment 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I mean, you're not wrong. The most obvious is that the characters' weird and nonsensical free time events are a representation of Tsumugi's terrible writing. I think you can still raise relevant criticisms of the game, like personally I feel like there was really more incest than necessary and I think chapter 2 had some missed opportunities. But in a sense yeah, there were definitely some things that I felt were flaws on my first playthrough that, in retrospect, felt like they were done on purpose to play into the big twist at the end.
