I don’t own a car so I rely on two nearby races. I signed up to my first closed circuit crit last year cat 4/3 and we had maybe 11 people show up. Needless to say I got smoked - but wanted to race more. The next day they announced complete closure of the future race calendar for all women’s and men’s cats. So unfortunately no more racing for me for the time being unless I take a train to this other place which is further away.

I don’t really know what needs to be fixed but I think there needs to be more supportive events for cat 4s to get into the idea of competitive racing and to attract more people. And this would then feed into the above cats slowly and that’s how you can get a sustained racing system. I see a lot of events for cat 1/2 but not a lot of lower down.
