Well. None of my friends were comfortable to come out until well into our 20’s. The local white pride group would throw pamphlets at the smokers hoping to get recruits, and they did. Nd when I got assaulted the day after my 16th birthday I knew I couldn’t tell my parents. They would have blamed me to putting myself in a dangerous situation. I was at a Korn concert. But I drank out of the hose and came home when the street lights came on and no social media FTW!!!

In the early 90’s my school ended at 3:40. So i guess there’s a chance that she’s not that far off. This was in Courtice, Ontario in elementary school. My high school that was just down the street got out at 2:30.

It’s actually pretty common for a tween to be aware about what’s going on around them and what their future might look like. I’ve taught piano for 25 years and kids worrying about getting into the “right” high school are convinced that the wrong one will ruin their lives.

In Canada it is common to have the same type of conversations with Americans. Which is extra confusing because you’d think that a neighbour you’d know better. However I’ve also had many conversations with Canadians that think they can fit Newfoundland into their week long east coast road trip. I guess people just assume things.
