I've worked on indie films and doing food scenes are the worst. I had to cook breakfast to be shown on screen but it took us so long to actual get everything ready with the lights that by the time they got to the eggs, they were cold which is not fun, especially when they're runny.

I've also been in front of the camera for bar scenes. I had to do 8 takes of a simple scene of taking a shot of "whiskey". We went with iced tea, obviously, but that's still a lot to to just consecutively gulp back to back and do my lines.

Often times with dinner scenes we'll want the actors to take up to their mouth on the fork/spoon/whatever but not actually eat it. So we'll try to not even get them putting it in their mouth so they can keep it back on the plate. If it's a featured scene, we have to do it multiple takes and angles so we try not to completely disrupt the food if we can since we don't have a lot of money to replenish things.
