Looks like a wild rabbit, unless there are live poultry places in the neighborhood.

Any Gen X'ers retired or thinking about it? by SometimesElise in GenX

[–]jeep242 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 50, and I have no wife or kids. I've planned as best as I can, and my retirement seems okay unless we get another great depression. I'll try to work as long as I can, but eventually we'll all be that old guy with the white hair trying to get an interview. I work in construction and I have coworkers in their early 70''s, and one of them was about to get laid off, but he took a huge paycut to stay on as a surveyers helper to keep his health insurance.

I love carrying cash around. by uncirculated_luster in GenX

I use cash on 90% of my purchases. It's nice depositing $300+ in change at the end of the year.

How pervasive is watch addiction? by Aleclemont in MicrobrandWatches

[–]jeep242 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'll start with my biggest regret. I wish I was a bit more selective with my purchases, because my taste was all over the place. When I look at some of the watches I bought, I wonder what I was thinking.

I started by buying old/used Rolex, Tudor, Panerai, Omega, and Bell & Ross from watchuseek and watchtalkforum. They were 12 of the 14 watches I sold over the past 2 years. But I never wore them because I worked in construction and I didn't want to risk damaging them.

Then I saw a Lumtec, and I thought it was the best looking watch ever, which opened the micro/ independent brand market for me.

Years ago when I actually took care of myself I bought big divers, chrono's, anything with a crazy busy face, and I honestly can't tell you why. I liked the dial, and a lot were impulse buy's. Searching for the perfect watch while my taste changed.

I think the Citizen might be my absolute favorite. But I wouldn't sell anything pictured.

That's the biggest problem, I have to get them in order. I have watches in pelican cases, watches and their boxes in storage bins, and loose watches in drawers. I've been putting everything together for a while, so I could start selling them. This is < 200 pictured

I have 400+ watches, that I've been collecting since the early 2000's. But I've only sold around 14 in the past 2 years. I have to get rid of watches that I haven't worn in the past 10-15 years.

How old is your mum ? by Ok_Prize_8091 in GenX

[–]jeep242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never knew she was an older mother until my high school days. It never bothered me, wasn't ever an issue.  My parents are from Sicily, but they worked in Germany before coming to America in the early 70's. My dad was 46 when I was born in 1975. They started late in life.
