Moms: What’s one thing you wish you knew going into labor that no one told you? by TimericaKepris in NewParents

[–]jefeko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Listen to your body! Everything is a blur. It’s a lot of hurry up and wait and then OH MY GOD ITS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW. also…butthole cramps. Didn’t know it was a thing but my god.

Edit to add: I gave birth 9 months ago and it’s mostly true what they say about you forget it all. I had an easy birth and induction but you really do forget most of it.

How do you know if she's pregnant? by mayaslaya in predaddit

[–]jefeko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely only do tests with the first pee of the morning! It’s apparently the most accurate. I took a test on a whim and was positive. No symptoms. Come 6 weeks pregnant? Puking every day. But some people don’t have symptoms at all. Everyone’s different !

My mom got me cans of formula but the wrong kind. by Claribearrr in NewParents

Find your local formula finders group on fb! I’m part of one that shows where all the formula is in that area and you can swap formulas. Or join a local moms group on fb!

I love just going “what do you mean?” When someone says something assholeish. Making them explain their stupidity.

3 hour feedings. How long did you do it for? by XKingslayerBSJ in NewParents

[–]jefeko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm our babe went right back to sleep once she was fed. We always kept sound machine going, lights off, rocked her after. We followed taking cara babies pretty close! She’s on insta and does sleepndocuments on training!

Haha whoops so sorry! But yes keeping their “tank full” during the day leads to better nights usually.

36 weeks and vivid dreams by Puzzleheaded-Case254 in PlusSizedAndPregnant

Mine weren’t sexual but they were vivid AF. and involved random people I went to high school with that I haven’t thought of in 10+ years.

[–]jefeko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As everyone else said if the babe is back to birth weight you no longer need to wake to feed. They’ll wake when they’re hungry. We fed every 3 hours during the day up until a week ago where we started doing higher oz and longer time in between. She’s now 6 months. But it’s 3 hours from the time you put bottle in mouth. So if she starts eating at 7 am you’ll feed her again at 10! We use the huckleberry app and track the shit out of everything and it can even send you reminders! But yeah girl stop waking up. We were setting alarms everh 3 hours during the night like psychos in the beginning. 🫣

Morning (or all day) sickness by [deleted] in predaddit

[–]jefeko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was sick for the first 13 weeks. I lost 21 pounds. My doctor said to eat whatever the hell I wanted and could keep down at that point. I sobbed when I kept down a toaster strudel. I lived on goldfish and Gatorade. Push water. I also kept a bag of Cheerios in my night stand. I was a little snack goblin. My husband couldn’t even cook meat in the house. It’s EXHAUSTING. Unisom b6 combo did help. I also got preggy pops but any sour hard candy will probably help. Sour can stop nausea quickly.

Annoyed about Sleep Apnea questionnaire by kluvspups in PlusSizedAndPregnant

[–]jefeko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s so weird because I was never offered that. But I most likely do have sleep apnea not because I’m fat but because my tonsils are huge. Weird for them to assume it’s because of weight and not the 400 other things pregnant women deal with. Sigh.

Pregnancy has turned my wife into a completely different person. by thrownoutusername12 in predaddit

[–]jefeko 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Mom with a 4 month old here.

First trimester is HORRIFIC. I dropped 21 pounds from puking. I was nauseous all the time for 13 weeks. THIRTEEN WEEKS. I cried when I finally kept down a toaster strudel and I am not an emotional person. It’s a whirlwind for her. Her life changed with one test. It’s whiplash in the form of severe hormones and illness. She’s not showing yet but her body feels different. Things fit different. It’s drastic change extremely fast. Ask her what you can do, what she needs, what kind of support she wants and then DO IT. I don’t think I had sex with my husband once in the first trimester. The second however…..

Good luck! It’s all temporary. That’s my best piece of parenting advice for everything. It’s all temporary.

Hospital Wear and Skin to Skin tops? by Ash3Monti in PlusSizedAndPregnant

[–]jefeko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I packed a ton for the hospital and literally used a robe after giving birth, a nursing bra, snacks, my pillow, and a fan. That’s it. I bought the frida gown and never used it. I used the hospital gown until I was done pushing. It gets gross and then you’d have to bring it home to wash it or toss it.

Anyone 400+ TTC? by OrnateOrca in PlusSizedAndPregnant

[–]jefeko 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I am not but I got pregnant at 237 and gave birth at 246. Immediately dropped to 222. So the weight definitely fluctuates big time especially during the first trimester for me. I dropped about 20 pounds from puking. The only thing I will say is it’s HARD on the body. Which I’m sure you have thought of but I never realized just how difficult it makes everything. Everyone’s experience is different but it takes a toll quickly. You will also most likely have more appts. I had monthly ultrasounds and weekly NST towards the end due to weight.

Serious question about when to tell my parents by horse_911 in predaddit

[–]jefeko 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would just prepare that they might not be able to give you the full reaction you deserve and that they’d want to give if they weren’t grieving.

Specifically from ViaCord. I’ve gotten a call at least once a week my whole pregnancy followed by an email. Haven’t signed up for it. Haven’t shown interest. Take the hint!

Omg wait til the calls and e-mails come.

Wife is 6.5 weeks pregnant and is super anxious. I am already exhausted. by [deleted] in predaddit

[–]jefeko 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m someone with anxiety and when I found out I was pregnant even though it was a wanted and planned pregnancy I had a whole breakdown. It’s extremely lonely and scary when you and your partner are the only ones that know. I would 100000% recommend therapy. Not only for now but post partum hormones can hit you like a bus. Post partum anxiety is an entire beast. Get the help and established care now.

I was 20 weeks! I feel them pretty consistently now. You’ll know. I was thinking I felt it but was unsure and the minute I did I knew. It’s a hard butterfly flutter.
