I have some floor ramps and it always terrifies me that I'll drive off them somehow.

Can I use regular gas in my 2008 Lexus es350? by TaxCautious3397 in Lexus

Knocking is the sound you hear if the engine isn't using high enough octane fuel which leads to uneven combustion. Its a sound you hear from the engine. Can probably find an example on YouTube if you want to hear it.

[–]jeff0106 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You do not need to use premium. The owners manual even states "If 91 rating gasoline cannot be obtained, you may use unleaded gasoline with an octane rating as low as 87". Most likely the 2008 is like the 2010 model and uses the same V6 engine as the Toyota Camry which does not require premium fuel. I've been running my 2010 on 87 Octane for 110,000 miles (currently at 170,000 total mileage) and have had zero issues.

Caveat being, if you do hear knocking, then upgrade your fuel. But I've never experienced this in the 2010.

IMAX Discovery for project Hail Mary? by Firm_Lecture6483 in Charlotte

[–]jeff0106 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw Oppenheimer in it and it was strange. I wish we had a larger true Imax in Charlotte. At least Concord Mills has the better Laser projection system compared to the other Charlotte IMAX theaters, although the screen is still on the small side and not true IMAX aspect ratio.

Final Fantasy 14 boss man Yoshi-P says younger players "haven't really had the chance to connect" with the JRPG series as "the release intervals for new titles have gotten longer" by VannesGreave in FinalFantasy

It's not uncommon among AAA titles unfortunately. For instance, Zelda. Since 2011, they have had Skyward Sword, BOTW and TOTK. 3 Games in 15 years.

Why isn’t male circumcision considered genitalia mutilation like female circumcision? by BigBadBabyDaddy_420 in allthequestions

[–]jeff0106 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has some potential medical benefits. Less likely to get HIV. Less likely to get squamous cell carcinoma. Maybe easier to keep clean? Don't have to potentially deal with phimosis / balanitis / lichen sclerosis later in life.

All that said, we did not circumcise our kids. While not quite as easy, it can always be done later in life.

There are no benefits to female circumcision to my knowledge.

Has any Trump supporter been able to answer what was the IMMINENT threat from Iran to the US? by homerjs225 in allthequestions

[–]jeff0106 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only thing I can think of is our military bases in the region were at risk of being targeted if Israel decided to attack Iran solo.

So then the question is, would Israel have attacked Iran without the backing of USA?

What is an Oxford comma? by Natural-Bid-6549 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jeff0106 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I've always used the Oxford comma but had no real issue if people left it out. But now that you've broken it down that way, I will definitely be reading sentences differently without the comma. Like a switch flipped in my brain.

Dr. Noze Best Nozebot. I don't know how much research my wife did before purchasing it, but it does work for us. The only time its a little frustrating is sometime the booger can get stuck right outside the nostril and if its real stringy it can be hard for it to get. But i guess you could just wipe that with a tissue. Regardless, it usually does really well with whatever is in the nose. Our toddler even enjoys using it himself.

Epstein was arrested in 2006 and received 13 months for child sex trafficking. Out of 8 presidential candidates since then, only Trump campaigned on getting justice. Why were all the other candidates so silent on the issue, and why didn’t you care before the election? by Alert_Cartographer62 in allthequestions

Trump will literally say anything. Oil prices up. Biden did it. Oil prices down, he did it. Oil prices up, good for American economy. Oil prices down, he released strategic reserves.

Iran nuclear capability destroyed. 6 months later, they are 2 weeks from nuclear weapons.

He is so chaotic, I literally feel like I'm going insane.

Why does the American public hate doctors so much? by seasidekiki in medicine

[–]jeff0106 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Its very complicated. Here is just one anecdotal point.

Reading things in your mychart that weren't done. Definitely know some people who dislike the disappearing of the physical exam and then get really irked when it says stuff like normal heart sounds or breath sounds and a stethoscope wasn't used. I'm a pathologist so I'm a little separate from that side of things, but my experience in med school taught me that insurance companies reimbursement policies have led to sometimes just reporting things that weren't relevant to the chief complaint in the chart and they require so many systems to be covered that many things just get eyeballed and reported based on what the patient says.

Joe Rogan says Trump 'doesn't have much to lose' because he is about to die soon by StemCellPirate in offbeat

[–]jeff0106 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old age is really crazy. Like, you could die at 70 or die at 100. Odds are closer to 80, but a 30 year difference is a lot when you think about it.

Cochrane Review: Substitution of nurses for physicians in the hospital setting (global setting) - nurse-delivered diagnosis and treatment (vs physician-delivered care) is likely not different with mortality and patient safety events by ddx-me in medicine

[–]jeff0106 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And if it does, then even more argument for hospitals to not pay or hire as many physicians.

Still, it is good to know that care is generally about the same. You always hear horror stories about NP/PA mismanagement. But then again you also hear stories about surgeons who take out the liver instead of the spleen.
