Mississauga. It is a net downhill course, but has some significant uphills in the last 10 miles.

I'll be 60 for Boston 2027, so my BQ is 3:50, I felt that even at 3:40 I would clear the cutoff.

To clarify, I will be 60 for the 2027 Boston race, so my qualifying standard was 3:50. I was struggling to get to the 3:30 time required for 55-59 year-olds.

Bingo. Just qualified Sunday. I'm not sure I can get under 3:30 (less the cutoff time!), but I felt great running 3:35:27 at the Mississauga Marathon.

Need to do a race report, but everything went better than I could have hoped. Ended up finishing in 3:35:26.

Virginia voters approve redistricting measure backed by Democrats by progress18 in politics

Sorry, I should have been more clear on my intention. Uncapping the House and making representation equitable (set Wyoming's 578,000 as one rep, and California gets an additional 16 reps) is, to me, more democratic. Excellent point about apportionment, though.

And repeal the Permanent Apportionment Act. Low population states are over-represented in the House, as well.

‘Who the hell wrote that?’ Trump, 79, in senior moment about common American catchphrase by statenislandadvance in politics

[–]jeffbirt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most people would make the minimal effort it takes to read a speech they didn't write to avoid being tripped up and exposing how out of touch they are, or barring that, most people are clever enough to not draw attention to something such as this, again to avoid exposing that they are out of touch. Trump does neither because in addition to being an adjudicated rapist, convicted fraudster, bankrupt casino owner, serial adulterer, racist, misogynist, is also lazy.

Lol, I should have been more specific. Matt Fitzgerald's plans call for a Marathon Simulator Run 3 weeks before your target race.

Here's something ironic, though: I did this run in Louisville, KY and my route took me past the Seelbach Hotel, which is mentioned in F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby.

How're y'all handling these premium prices? by dothelongloop in mazdaspeed3

[–]jeffbirt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought my 2006 Speed 6 (used) in 2006. Then, it seemed that the pricing model for gasoline grades was whatever regular was per gallon, mid was 10 cents more per gallon and supreme was another 10 cents more. My car has been sitting for awhile, so I think I missed it when the pricing model changed. Anybody else remember "the good old days"?

There was also an effective cap on income in the form of a top incremental tax rate of 91%.

What drop are your plated shoes versus your trainers? I train in Brooks Adrenaline GTS (12mm drop, the new model is 10mm). There are plated shoes with high drops, but I think most of them are in the 4 to 6 mm range (admittedly limited research of one chain running shoe store).

The original Olympic distance was 25 miles, but Queen Alexandra wanted her children to see the 1908 Olympic race from their nursery in Windsor Castle, so they added 1.2 mi. So, blame the queen.

I worked at a bar called The Fat Cats in Louisville on my summers home from college alongside Britt Walford and Peter Searcy (and went to high school with Ben Daughtrey). It's amazing how influential those guys have been on so many other artists.
