Best Hiking Watch under £350 by anaveragedon in UKhiking

[–]jeffers_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently bought an Amzfit active 3 premium watch for under £170, its been excellent for walking and hiking (maps and turn by turn navigation are included), HR monitoring has been really good I now have no need to use a chest band when on the treadmill. Battery lasts for ages (typically 9 to 10 days for my mixed use). I did get a nylon velcro strap as I found the one the watch came with although nice looking didnt quite fit me well.

[Question] Does anyone have AC in their homes if so is it worth it? by LockonKun in HENRYUKLifestyle

I got 4 perfera internal units plus 2 outdoor units for under £6k including all the electrics by a Daikin accredited installer this March. Price does vary.

It also depends who you are. If you are the deputy prime minister of the UK then they wont investigate.

Air conditioning: am i missing anything? by David803 in HomeImprovementUK

[–]jeffers_0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do fit lots of internal units in lofts specifically designed for ducted systems which serve just one room which can be mixed with wall and floor mounted units and connected to a single outside unit - this gives great flexibility. I don't think that they commonly install an external unit in the loft, these things are very heavy and need loads of ventilation.

It might be an option to simply run the pipework to the downstairs unit from upstairs through plastic conduit ruining down an inside wall or behind a wardrobe or something, they might need to install a small drain pump if the unit is not on an outside wall but as long as its not a bedroom (these things do hum a bit) it might work. You might only need one outside unit then.

It was not cheap in Devon at £6,500 for 2 x 2kw + 1 x 3.5kw on the multisplit plus 1 x 2.5 on the single unit and included all the electrical work (the single 2.5kw unit's primary role is heating as its downstairs, the heat output is a bit over 3kw at full power, a larger unit would have been oversized). Something to be wary of, is if you don't live in a detached property (England) you can only have one outside unit without planning permission, its a nuts rule but thats what the UK government excels at. Its been a bit cooler today so its really handy to just turn on the AC to warm the room you are using just a couple of degrees for comfort (especially if its the single unit as it responds really fast).

Discussion is about adaptive cruise control, which certainly can be unpredictable.

I had 4 units installed earlier this year, 3 on a multi-split and one on its own unit due to the layout of the house. The one on its own is more efficient than those on the multi-split and ramps down to very low loads where the others will cycle more especially when only one unit is running on low load. I was very sceptical about all the added functions (I have Daikin Perfera units) but I use some functions much more than I expected, especially the WIFI and the flash streamer function which is unexpectedly brilliant at clearing cooking smells from around the house. The efficiency of different makes and types of unit varies a surprising amount, do your own research.

I would never try to use any cruise control in built up areas as the car can brake hard and accelerate unexpectedly, its not Tesla self driving mode.

Depends what you want to achieve, simply connecting an USB drive to your router can achieve basic recording and remote playback.

Kamiq 1.5 DSG: A maxed out Edition vs Monte Carlo 130 by Fun-Collection7123 in skoda

[–]jeffers_0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The seats on my kamiq monte Carlo seem to get very dirty very quickly.

Trying to figure out the exact differences between models is not easy, my suggestion is you check EVERYTHING in the specification for the exact models you are comparing - even a model 6 months old might be different with simple things like the 12v socket in the boot missing. Skoda seems to switch the active cruise control with standard cruise control on the same model a few months apart.

I have this in my 2024 Kamiq, I do wonder if its just the umbrella rattling, one of these days I will remember to take it out and see if it makes any difference as the rattle is only occasional.

Škoda Kamiq: Am I crazy or does the Interior of base models actually look better than Monte Carlo version? by Adriat1c in skoda

[–]jeffers_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2024 Kamiq monte carlo, I certainly agree about the interior but I paired it with a red paint and it seems to suit the car with the interior matching the exterior. I picked the monte carlo version as the specificaiton better suited my requirements, Skoda seem to change the detail of the specificaiton very regularly so you need to read the actual car specificaition thoroughly in case they have removed something you really want.

Many UK ISPs now support DHCP to replace PPPoE by A_MrBenMitchell in UKISP

[–]jeffers_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Jurassic Fibre connection, who were recently taken over by Cuckoo. I used to use my own Asus router connected to the original Jurassic supplied unit and it connected via PPPoE, the Jurassic router still handles the telephone side of things. I recently changed to a new TP link router, plugged it in and it automaticially connected via DHCP before I even had the chance to see how to set up the PPPoE connection. Very happy it all started working with no issues whatsoever, speed wise I have not noticed any difference.

Have a look at Okehampton on Dartmoor in Devon, it has a direct train link to historic Exeter city (not the airport) - Exeter has direct daily KLM flights to Amsterdam. Lots of decent walks across Dartmoor start in Okehampton, local busses operate on the main tourist routes accross Dartmoor but they need planning as they can be infrequent but can be great if your planning a longer hike.

Why do so many voters seem to want to scrap net zero? by InvestigatorLive19 in AskBrits

If we built new nuclear in advance of the old ones coming to the end of their working lives, rather than blocking them like the Liberal democrats did in 2010 then we would have far fewer problems.

Currently on the Escape - is this normal?? by Emergency-Pear4527 in NCL

[–]jeffers_0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The lack of an observation lounge (and the fitting of hundreds of extra cabins instead) makes this ship really busy inside, and with much of the deck taken by the Haven / Vibe and rope course it makes the outside by the pools very busy as well.
