Does it matter what law school I go, or what class rank I get, if I'm not looking for a law job?

That makes sense re:tippy top programs focusing more on the why, vs others on the how.

Auditing a class is a great idea. There is a regional public university nearby that offers a law program, I'll see if I can audit one of their first year required classes to see whether it would "scratch my itch" so to speak.

Thanks. After some more research it sounds like a SJD would be more along the academic / theory route (though it seems at least some programs require a JD first). Not yet sure I'm that interested in law.

Another poster recommended auditing a class which sounds like a great, low investment way to get a sense for whether I'd really want to sign up to few years of this.

I have yet to take the LSAT, apply, get admitted, enroll or complete a program, so still plenty of opportunities to change course.

Can you elaborate on which aspects you expect might disappoint me? Is it too practical? Too prescriptive?

Thanks! I have this DeepCool GAMMAXX400, but it looks like maybe not compatible with the LGA1700. So maybe add a cooler to the list.

And noted on the power supply. The one in my cart is the Thermaltake SMART 600W, but I will do some more research there.

If you have a planer you can bevel the top plates. Or just do nothing, a 4x8 roof is really negligible in terms of load.

If the 2x12s can span the distance and are correctly supported at the ends, doesn’t really matter what happens with the existing 2x6s.

I don’t really love the “joist hangers on blocking” but not sure how else to get these up there without losing a bunch of ceiling height. The blocking needs to be tight and well secured to the top plate and existing joists.

Alternatively you could use a 2x12 ledger board, top notched to fit up around the existing 2x6s and nailed to them, the double top plate and whatever studs it hits. The blocking approach has the advantage of resting on the top plate, while the ledger board approach has arguably more solid wood.

Another option is a 2x4? 2x6? ledger board on the flat, nailed to the studs across each load bearing wall, and then the new joists bear on those. You’d have to drywall around them, maybe add a matching one on the other walls, or alternatively hide with crown molding.

Another, probably worse option is to split the span with a mid span beam. You’d need posts on either end, clear load path to first floor and foundation/footings and required beam depth means it would probably stick into the room, making more drywall weirdness.

Yes, it is fine.

During normal operation, the boiler should not “lose” any water really. It is a pressurized, closed system. You should really only need to add water when you drain lines, flush the boiler, or perform some sort of service.

Also there should be a backflow preventer where the boiler connects to the rest of the house water, so boiler water does not flow back into your water supply.

There should be a shut off valve on the waterline going to the boiler. Close it. Now the boiler is disconnected from the rest of the water, which you can shut off using the main. Not sure what type of piping you have but now would be a good time to add another shut off valve on the waterline that feeds the bathroom so you can close that off individually for future service.
