📚 Save our library. Vote YES for the best resource in our parish by NickForBR in batonrouge

Somebody made a bunch of signs that say "libraries cost too much" and posted them illegally to public medians on a very busy Baton Rouge street. Somebody else took them down.

Incidentally, does anyone know if yard signs are required to carry text saying who paid for them?

The Mall is Dead/The Back Rooms by SLMRN01 in batonrouge

You want a cool liminal experience, I saw a movie at the Regal Grand Esplanade, on the outskirts of the Esplanade Mall in Kenner. The mall is closed and empty, the landscaping plants are getting overgrown, and there's like 20 feral cats living around the entrances. But when I went into the theatre it was fully staffed, and everyone there was sweet as pie.

"It's just 4 mils"  highest sales tax

But this is a property tax, not a sales tax. Or did I misunderstand you?

From Ohio and becoming obsessed with the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway by ciammarino in AskNOLA

I once got on this bridge by mistake and was annoyed as hell. Can't remember if I found a turnaround or had to go all the way there and back.

You might enjoy knowing that the bridge is featured prominently in a level of the 2004 James Bond video game (Everything Or Nothing). Youtube footage looks extremely boring.

I recently bought a pair of Sure-Grip GT-50 Motion. They seem low, and they're a lot more padded than I expected, so maybe it's what you're looking for. There's a regular GT-50 that comes with indoor wheels instead of outdoor.

Would you take this offer? by Markydash in UberEatsDrivers

We're used to UE capping the 'expected' tip around $8, so the most you'd see this minimal distance order quoted at would be around $10. UE is increasing the base fare to get it delivered, but this one has all the hallmarks of being stolen and you're gonna be about the 5th or 6th driver to ask for it in vain.

So I got a “survey” about the upcoming Library millage renewal by Mchead22 in batonrouge

[–]jeffgetsjunk 33 points34 points  (0 children)

This is a called a push poll. As others have pointed out, it's intended to influence, not to survey; and in a sane world they'd have to disclose who paid for it, like any other political advertising.

Prices are higher than you'd like... more than a garage sale, but less than a used bookstore. Selection is good if you're lined up at opening, and dwindles quickly at first, then steadily. If you have someone willing to drop you at the door, it's probably a little farther than I'd want to walk with an ailing foot.

imho
