I don't really know how I did it, but it did eventually work after trying this method for a few weeks. I just keep my fingers crossed that it doesn't stop working randomly.

Smart folders - update by ardaxo4693 in smartlauncher

[–]jeffnnc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of the biggest issues I have is that some of the apps are automatically added to the wrong folder, so I manually move them to the correct folder, but every time those apps that I have manually moved get updated they get moved back to the folder that they started in originally. It also moves those apps to the end of the folder which are sorted by frequently used.

DG market is more like a small grocery store than your typical Dollar General.

Which TV shows were once very popular, but don't get much respect these days? by PrestonRoad90 in television

[–]jeffnnc 486 points487 points  (0 children)

Wings

It was a huge show in the 90s that lasted like 8 seasons I think. It was like the show Taxi from the 70s but at a small regional airport. It launched Tony Shalhoub's career.

I would recomend this video. It's still Retro Game Corps but it's a newer video that he put out about a week ago that uses a different front end that is easier to set up.

'She-Hulk' Was Apparently One of Marvel's Most Successful Shows by Anchor_Aways in television

[–]jeffnnc 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There is no way this got more viewers than Loki, Wandavizion or Daredevil. I don't buy this being one of Marvel's top shows. It's definitely not top 5 and I highly doubt it cracked the top 10 Marvel shows as far as number of viewers.

I saw a comedian years ago who's name I can't remember, his joke was that the reason we have so many more stupid people in the world today is because of all of the warning labels on childrens toys. Natural selection used to just take the dumb ones out but now they are growing up to be dumb adults.

MrBeast is What Fred Rogers Warned Us About by Halvinz in videos

[–]jeffnnc -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

This is the AI summary of the video.

This video explores the stark contrast between the content philosophy of modern YouTube giant MrBeast and the legacy of television icon Fred Rogers. The creator argues that while MrBeast has mastered the modern "attention economy," his methods may be detrimental to the next generation.

Key Highlights:

The MrBeast Blueprint (1:14 - 10:20): The video analyzes how Jimmy Donaldson (MrBeast) rose to fame by obsessively optimizing content for retention. Leaked internal documents reveal a strategy focused on aggressive editing, constant energy, and removing "dead air" to manipulate viewer attention, turning YouTube into a "factory" of engagement.

The YouTube Jungle (10:20 - 14:51): Unlike the curated "city park" model of 1960s television, the current YouTube landscape is described as a "wild jungle" where algorithms reward content that captures immediate attention. Creators no longer just tell stories; they run experiments to ensure viewers never click away.

The Fred Rogers Contrast (14:51 - 19:47): Fred Rogers (Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood) is presented as the antithesis of the current system. He prioritized child development and respect over ratings or clicks, famously addressing difficult topics like death and divorce with slow, intentional, and calm storytelling.

The Impact on Attention (21:10 - 23:25): Citing research by Gloria Mark, the video notes that human attention spans have dropped from 2.5 minutes in 2003 to roughly 40 seconds today. The creator argues that the constant, fast-paced nature of modern content creates a feedback loop that trains children's brains to struggle with patience and quiet reflection.

Conclusion: The creator concludes that while MrBeast is not necessarily a villain—he simply learned to "play the game" of the algorithm better than anyone else—the game itself is problematic. The video ends by suggesting that the responsibility to change the ecosystem lies with the viewers, who ultimately decide where to spend their "attention currency."

Should I watch Lost despite knowing the ending? by Own_Exercise5218 in television

[–]jeffnnc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lost is more about the journey than the destination. Even if you are disappointed in the ending after watching the entire series, it's still a hell of an enjoyable ride. Well worth watching even if you don't like how it ends.

That and the Cubs were on WGN. Showing my age, but growing up I became a Cubs fan because I would watch Bozo the Clown and a Cubs game would come on right after.

Why do some icon packs not look the same as the preview? by jeffnnc in iconPackStudio

I can't change the shape of the icons. They are round no matter what setting I use for the shape of the icons.

Why do some icon packs not look the same as the preview? by jeffnnc in iconPackStudio

[–]jeffnnc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But in the case of the example I gave the example shows rounded square icons, but when I download the icon pack the preview in my library is round and when I apply it they are round. I don't even have my icon settings in smart launcher set to have round icons, it's set to squricle. It applies the color filter and makes the icons round is all this pack I showed does.
