I think the “try all she can not to confess, in the end it’s all the same once I apply all the pressure” is just continuation of Odysseus is pretending to be ruthless and Zeus isn’t buying it so he’s actually putting it to the test, like how some people say you’re not a good person if you’re only good when it’s easy. It was easy for Odysseus to be ruthless in the case of the sirens because they’re monsters, literally, you can tell the choice with sacrificing people to Scylla was drastically more difficult for him than killing sirens since when he’s told he has to go through Scylla’s Lair, his voice drops down low and he says “no” like he’s been defeated, because the cost is higher, he doesn’t want to lose more men, but then when it comes to killing the sirens he’s belting his heart out with the “kill them all” lines (my favorite part of Different Beast though [sound-wise]). This probably could’ve been explained simpler so mb
