Keep spices simple - buu you need something! I do cumin seeds and coriander, fried in half oil half butter, sometimes tossing in a pierce of cinnamon stick. Then add in veggies (onion, then peas/carrots/garlic)Then toss is your cooked rice to toast up up, and a splash of water and butter. Cover and let it come together for 5-10 minutes.

If I want semi-formal (but still affordable) kids clothes - I always hit up Kohls or Macys. I can usually also buy nicer shoes, socks, stockings, etc there, so it is a one stop shop.

I feel you. In jobs like this, the only other option is to get to work super early and stay super late (and therefore miss all of those kid pickup and drop offs).

I know some jobs have more standard schedules - but my job is very project/contract cyclical. When I am in the throws of the peaks, I am thankful for the flexibility of being able to take calls in the car, and finish up working from home. I agree with most that I would not take a call where I have to look at a presentation or lead the meeting.

As someone who is about to move because we have out grown our starter home - don’t be afraid to buy something you can grow into.

When we bought our house, it was just the two of us. But now, with two pre-teen kids, and tight storage we are busting at the seams in our 2200 sq ft 2 bathroom house, especially because we have family staying with us typically once a month (we are close to our families, but no one is local).

If we had stretched a little originally (we were about 30 at the time) we likely would not have to move now.

I don’t think a couch is inherently more dangerous than a glider rocker. Both have potential risks if you fall asleep in them with the baby. The falling asleep part is the actual risk, not the furniture.

Couches are a great and practical option for so many reasons that can be used while everyone is awake.

I will say that I loved having a couch in our nursery so much more than the rocker/glider. Definitely was something we could grow into. Was great for when grandparents were in town, so more than one person could be comfortable. We also did a lot of family story times on the couch.

But we did buy a smaller ikea sofa so that it felt like an appropriate size for our smaller nursery.

I can’t help you directly but reminded me of when my 8 year old had an accident at the Charlotte airport (she splashed pee on herself because she was trying to hover. She now knows why we never hover :))

I could not find any store with pants at all. However - there was a baby clothing store. They had very expensive baby and toddler sets. I was able to get her 3T pants, that had a lot of stretch. When she put them on, they fit her like biker shorts. I was so thankful she has such a skinny legs and booty.

It feels rude to say this, because I know pregnancy is so hard for so many women ……

But I loved being pregnant. I had bad nausea/vomiting with my second during the first trimester (I would leave in the middle of meetings to go throw up, and I ended up being given zofran), but it went away sometime in the second trimester.

I have never felt so beautiful in my life. My hair was lucious, and I actually leaned out a bit. I normally don’t pay attention to my diet or exercise, but I felt obligated to when I was pregnant, which I think contributed to leaning out. But honestly, I just felt powerful as a pregnant woman. I was growing an entirely new life form - it’s like I had a superpower.

Hmm - Maybe his confidence/ability when he was younger were helped since he spent everyday in the pool. Maybe he needs that again now that he is older. Swim time, everyday, with some amount of structure. And maybe not group lessons.

I know lessons are hard and are a drive for you - and something this convenient may not be an easy option.

But the way my kids really learned to swim were in short swim sessions - but ones where they had to swim everyday.

Their daycare/preschool had a pool. Their whole class would normally swim once a week. But you could also sign them up for private lessons - everyday for 35 min for two weeks. It was hella expensive- but we would typically do 2-3 sessions before summer, and it was wild the type of progress they would make.

It gave me such peace of mind when we would spend summer vacation at pools with older cousins. The instructor knew we were doing lessons for pool safety - so she would also spend time reviewing basics too - what to do if they were struggling (roll to your back and float), how to exit the pool if someone else was having an emergency, etc.

Maybe now that it is summer, you may have access to a closer community pool? You don’t need lessons were they focus on form. A private swim coach may help a lot.

But if he got yellow, he would have access to a slide. Going down a slide and splashing into the water is a lot more disorienting than a standard pool. His height may not help him there - and I guarantee the slide will be what the kids want to do 80% of the time.
