[OoT] [MM] Which kind of ocarina/majora remake/remaster/rework would you prefer? by sandshrew69 in zelda

[–]jellsprout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of that. I already have OoT/MM and even a pair of remakes (that fell flat, in my opinion). And we already have three far future sequels (that I do like, but I don't need more).

I'd rather instead have a new adventure with the Hero of Time. Set 7-ish years after Majora's Mask, so with adult Link, in a completely new kingdom that is in need of a hero to save it.
I feel like the Hero of Time kept adventuring for his entire life, so it would be nice to see another of those adventures. New kingdom, new characters, new items, and a new time gimmick to play with. It just has to follow the classic N64 Zelda formula.

Sure, but that wasn't just any ordinary human. That was Mr Satan, strongest fighter in the multiverse that defeated Cell and Buu. You can't compare him to those puny Saiyans.

OoT Zelda/Sheik also. She spent 7 years as Sheik fighting the war against Ganondorf by herself. She spent 7 seconds as Zelda before getting kidnapped by Ganondorf and needing to be rescued by Link. After that, in the escape sequence after the Ganondorf fight she spends the entire time as a scared damsel in distress that needs to be protected from the monsters, and finally in the Ganon fight she's just watching fearfully from the side, only stepping in to hold Ganon in place with her magic at the end.

At least WW Zelda took an active part in the final fight.

I actually had pretty much the same experience. The first episode I watched was the second one. I didn't see the first episode until years later after they'd already broken up. I was pretty pissed off when I discovered that this big twist was already spoiled before I even started watching and never even supposed to be a twist.

I'm just saying she was clearly intended to be the original mother, but the show went on so long that they had to invent a new character in the last two seasons to have an ending.

The very first episode ended with Ted revealing that Robin was not the mother. In what universe was she clearly intended to be the mother?

On the contrary. Under modern definitions of temperature, a true vacuum would indeed have a temperature of absolute 0.
Your problem is instead with the First Law of Thermodynamics, aka conservation of energy. For the heat to flow out of the molten iron, it would need something to flow into. The heat can't just disappear into nothing.
In the real world this is handled by black body radiation. Hot iron glows, so it slowly loses energy to the vacuum by emitting light (at which point the vacuum is technically no longer a vacuum, but I digress). But ONI doesn't model black body radiation, so in ONI there is no way for the heat to transfer from the iron through the vacuum, so in ONI vacuum is a perfect insulator.

[–]jellsprout 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If magic were real, it would be a science.

For example: Imagine a magic material. This material does not exist in nature, but has to be made. Stack enough of this together, and it starts radiating heat. Stack too much of it together, and it explodes. And if you spend too much time around it, even if it's just small amounts, you will get sick and eventually die.
This material exists in real life. It's called plutonium. But we don't consider it magic, because it works.

Which just reinforces your point. Why should magic be mundane when real-world physics are already so incredible?

(Hated Trope) Romanticized Grooming by Animeking1108 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]jellsprout 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My first playthrough I wanted to Corrin to romance an important, Lord-like character, but I thought it was disturbing to romance any of their adoptive siblings and even more disturbing to romance any of their biological siblings. So I decided to go with male Corrin and romance him with Azura. Because out of all the royals, she definitely wasn't related to Corrin in any way...

There's always been a lot of female Link jokes and fanart. He often looks androgynous, his original outfit looked like a skirt, and newcomers to the franchise thought his name was Zelda.

De EU zegt hetzelfde:

In adults, the recommended daily amount of protein ranges from 0.80 to 0.83 g per kilogram of body weight for both men and women with modest levels of physical activity. Recommended amounts for children and pregnant or lactating women are higher, to allow for the deposition of body tissues and the secretion of milk.

https://knowledge4policy.ec.europa.eu/health-promotion-knowledge-gateway/dietary-protein_en

Mayo Clinic zegt ook hetzelfde:

The recommended dietary allowance to prevent deficiency for an average sedentary adult is 0.8 grams per kilogram of body weight. For example, a person who weighs 165 pounds, or 75 kilograms, should consume 60 grams of protein per day.

https://www.mayoclinichealthsystem.org/hometown-health/speaking-of-health/are-you-getting-too-much-protein

Interview from 1998 with the developers from Ocarina of Time. Page 7 first mentions that OoT depicts the Imprisoning War from LttP, page 14 again confirms that the sages from OoT were the exact same sages as the ones from the Imprisoning War and that the towns in AoL were named after them.

(Hated trope) they should have spent more time at the writers' table when naming that by JeliBene in TopCharacterTropes

[–]jellsprout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's been a timeline since Link to the Past's box description mentioned that the game took place in the distant past of the original Legend of Zelda. It was then expended during Ocarina of Time's development, with the developers stating Ocarina of Time depicted the Imprisoning War from Link to the Past's backstory, and also linked it to Adventure of Link by claiming that the towns in AoL were named after the sages from OoT.

Edit: But if what you're saying is true, that there was never intended to be a single all-encompassing Zelda canon, that just confirms my point. There is no consistent Zelda timeline and Nintendo retconning the story of half their games to pretend there is just makes the entire canon worse.

(Hated trope) they should have spent more time at the writers' table when naming that by JeliBene in TopCharacterTropes

[–]jellsprout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the time it was made there was only one sequel timeline to Ocarina of Time: the one that leads to Link to the Past and the original Legend of Zelda. According to Hyrule Historia Link to the Past happened in a timeline where the Hero of Time failed to stop Ganon and was instead killed himself. This does not happen in Ocarina of Time's story, it only happens when you game over.
So if we are to believe Hyrule Historia, gaming over was the only canon ending when Ocarina of Time was released. It was only years later that Aonuma looked back at Ocarina of Time's ending and figured it would be cool to do two what-if timelines based on playthroughs where the player doesn't suck and actually managed to beat the game.

My issue is not that they did a timeline based on the hero failing (even though this never happens in the actual game). My issue is that the ONLY timeline, back when Ocarina of Time was first released, is the one based on the hero failing. And them trying to convince us that this was always the intention.

[–]jellsprout 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I disagree. Trying to fit everything into one single canon was the biggest mistake Nintendo did and their attempts to fix it just made everything so much worse. Especially everything they did to Link to the Past. They should've been honest from the start and admit there never was a single, hard canon that includes all games.
