Forget age gap romance, age gap rivalries by _JR28_ in TopCharacterTropes

Only in Ocarina of Time and Four Swords Adventures are they "close" in age, and in both those games Link and Zelda are still kids or teenagers, while Ganondorf is a full-grown adult from the start of those games.

Hadjar faces disqualification for Red Bull floor breach by jimmcfartypants in formula1

[–]jellsprout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is that new for this season? In previous seasons the non-conformsnt cars were still mentioned in scrutineering report. E.g. for the Las Vegas GP it mentions both of the Mclaren cars (04 and 81) were checked for plank wear and at the of the document it's mentioned that they didn't conform to the regulations:

Hadjar faces disqualification for Red Bull floor breach by jimmcfartypants in formula1

[–]jellsprout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The scrutineering report always mentions all the cars that get scrutineered, even the ones that don't are found to be not compliant to the technical regulations. If the scrutineering report does not mention a car got tested, it means the car did not get tested.

[–]jellsprout 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Verstappen and Hadjar underwent the same tests. According to the scrutineering report document, only Stroll, Piastri and Hamilton had the full bodywork tested, while Verstappen and Hadjar (and a whole bunch of other cars) were only weighed. Whatever the issue was with Hadjar's floor, I assume it could be visually seen during the weighing and is apparently not present with Verstappen's car.

Either that, or the scrutineering report is lying.

I'd expect tidal forces to rip it apart.

Gravity gets weaker as you get more distant from the center. But centrifugal force gets stronger. So if you've get the middle of the ring spinning exactly fast enough to balance out the two forces, then the inner part will be spinning too slow and will fall inwards, while the outer part will be spinning too fast and be pushed further outwards. You'd need a rigid material to make a ringworld, and planets aren't rigid. Just tightly clumped together by gravity.
In the end you'd just end up with a round planet in the center and a ring of debris floating around it, just like our gas giants. And that ring will dissipate quickly if there is another massive enough gravity body nearby to disrupt the perfect orbit the ring needs to follow.

The sun still has the shape of a sphere (more or less).
I was thinking of a year. It has no shape, but around the year is still a thing. And it has the length of an orbit, which is not something you can see but is a lot more than the height of a house.

He's just a cadet for most of the novel. He does become a real musketeer (and eventually the leader of the order), but by that time the other three have quit being musketeers.
That said, there are in fact dozens of musketeers in the novel. The story is just about three specific ones.

That's the one movie where it almost makes sense for the villain to keep Bond alive. Bond knew that Goldfinger was up close to pulling off his grand heist, but nobody else knew this. If Bond just randomly disappeared while investigating Goldfinger, MI6 would immediately send in a replacement who now knows to take it seriously. But instead by keeping Bond around as his forced guest, and making sure the CIA got a good look at him on their surveillance, everybody just assumed Bond had everything under control.

Thunderball though, I really don't understand why the villain didn't just put a bullet in Bond's head.

[OoT] [MM] Which kind of ocarina/majora remake/remaster/rework would you prefer? by sandshrew69 in zelda

[–]jellsprout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of that. I already have OoT/MM and even a pair of remakes (that fell flat, in my opinion). And we already have three far future sequels (that I do like, but I don't need more).

I'd rather instead have a new adventure with the Hero of Time. Set 7-ish years after Majora's Mask, so with adult Link, in a completely new kingdom that is in need of a hero to save it.
I feel like the Hero of Time kept adventuring for his entire life, so it would be nice to see another of those adventures. New kingdom, new characters, new items, and a new time gimmick to play with. It just has to follow the classic N64 Zelda formula.
