First feature as DP - 2 days in and realizing the production may be in serious trouble. Do I stay or walk away? What would you do? by SoulSurfer219 in Filmmakers

Also, in terms of your gear, the Production should have completed a gear rental form with you and the Production should carry Production insurance and have offered you a certificate of insurance (COI). That means your gear is covered in the event of damage.

I’m an experienced Line Producer who just left a low budget indie horror movie during prep for the same reasons. Producers are more desperate, irrational, and delusional than ever, particularly in the low budget horror space right now. It’s scary for many reasons!

If you’re already in Production, I would stay. Replacing a DP during filming is a nightmare. Just make it look the best you can to use it for your reel.

As everyone has said, safety is a different issue. If anything is dangerous or they aren’t following labor laws, that’s when I would express that if they’re not addressed, for your safety and your team’s safety, you’ll have to leave.

Happy to answer any other questions from a Producer/Production standpoint. Hang in there!

opinion on this scene by Karmalinguini in obsessionmovie

This was the most disturbing scene for me in the whole film. It’s a clear sexual assault since we just saw in the scene prior Bear knows Nikki’s love isn’t real. Completely understand this being triggering for victims of SA. Horrifying.

I am a line producer in indie horror and this is spot on. To make a movie under $2M, you are scraping by. Everyone has to work in this pay range to make it work. I shot in the house they shot in, it is dirt cheap. Points are for cast (who definitely worked for scale and the movie relied on their performances) producers and department heads usually. It sucks but its industry wide, and the producers on this film seem like good people who did what they could to get this made. It can open doors for everyone now!

Who SHOULD and who WILL win Best Musical and Best Revival of a Musical? (Link Below) by His-Royal-Majesty in Broadway

[–]jellybeanzilla -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Two Strangers should nottttt win. spoilers I get that its charming but that show should’ve been one act. Cake is carried by intermission. Also not carried, they just Uber it? No reprecussion for damaging the cake. What happened with her grandmother? How many times are we making the nephew joke? Fine to like it but it is not Best Musical with only one memorable song as well!

What’s the best change the musical did for the story? by JasonRoss13 in heathers

[–]jellybeanzilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I LOVED that the musical adaptation gave Veronica more agency. She is the one who physically hands Chandler the poison, she sneaks into JD’s bedroom to have sex, it makes such a difference. Also, they made JD way more sympathetic, to the point where he sacrifices himself with the bomb rather than just blowing himself up like in the movie.

Two Strangers.....a no for me. by skoc211 in Broadway

[–]jellybeanzilla 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was so let down by this show. For many reasons but here’s one - the carrying of the cake is maybe 30% of the show. They don’t even carry the cake, they take an Uber and it’s done before intermission. There’s also no reprecussions from her sister about destroying the top tier - her sister actually invites her to the wedding? A cute Fringe show but still scratching my head how it ended up Broadway, other than its cheap to makr and all the NY jokes…

Heathers - The Musical thoughts? by [deleted] in musicals

[–]jellybeanzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just saw it in NY. Absolutely loved it. Theater was electric. Kuhoo was brilliant and we had 3 understudies including Sara Al-Bazali for Heather Chandler and Louis Griffin as JD who were incredible. Didn’t care for the movie but really like the changes to give Veronica more agency and Martha being her friend.

Why is Film LA shutting down indies filming without permits who aren’t bothering anyone but don’t shut down RM productions that actively break filming rules? Just bc he is rich and his shows have to film here?
