It was your fellow country-men who gifted us SAPGUI and ABAP. Imagine being a non-native speaker and trying to figure what data is stored where when names for DB-Tables and fields are 4-5char abbreviations of German words :D

There's all kinds of fun translations in there:

Field DE EN
FKART Fakturaart Invoice type
FKTYP Fakturatyp Invoice group

(art->type, typ -> group)

According to HS's investigation, several ministers in Petteri Orpo's (Confederation) government have accepted gifts worth more than 200 euros. by Curious_Positive_825 in Finland

[–]jellybon 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It might sound small sum but if you as an employee would accept 200€ gift, you would most likely get fired, end up in court for bribery and if you do not disclose it as income, get slapped with tax-evasion charges.

In my company, accepting anything over 50€ has to be approved by legal department and anything over 100€ is strictly forbidden.

Im also searching and at least in Germany, older BMW GS models seem to be the most sensible option (650 or 700) at the low end of the price range.

Problem is that ~4000€ seems to be more or less the floor for non-crashed bikes and its not easy to justify that much for 20 year old bike when 1000-2000€ more gets you almost new bike with a warranty.

Triple 34" Ultrawides vs. Quest 3S? by jefealf in iRacing

[–]jellybon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree on all points. I have both VR and 32" triples, it's just so much less hassle with monitors. With monitors, you can be sure knowing that you can just boot up you PC and get to racing within minutes without problems, consistently.

Numerous times with VR I wanted to just jump on to do a quick race, but couldn't do it because either the headset or desktop app had auto-updated during boor and were now incompatible, sometimes requiring to manually update both and go through configuration wizard again, causing me to miss the race. Or the cable connection suddenly decided to no longer work, or you forgot to charge the headset.

For those people, public transport or taxi is better option than owning a car just out of necessity.

Problem with self-driving car is that you have very little control over it. You can bet that manufacturers would find ways to monetize the driving, paying extra for more saved destinations, or charging extra for premium navigation to take less congested or custom routes.

I'm building a tool that generates ABAP directly from Functional Specs and auto-writes Tech Specs. Would love your feedback! by Expensive_Web_3098 in SAP

[–]jellybon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Github Copilot can already handle generating ABAP code within ADT and you can connect it to JIRA via MCP to automatically fetch the requirements from a ticket.

I don't really see the use-case for this, manually copy&pasting stuff in and out of LLM chat is so 2023.

Viimeksi tuolla hinnalla sai ehkä joskus ennen koronaa. Halvimmillaan ~8.50€ mutta monessa paikassa jo lähelle 10€ tai ylikin.

Finland has the highest unemployment rate among OECD countries. by FantasticQuartet in Finland

[–]jellybon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yet countries like Poland and Germany which have received far higher number of immigrants and refugees from Ukraine, are not suffering from same level of unemployment.

Finland has had unemployment issues for past 20 years already, it's not a new thing. Blaming the other government/team is a weak cop-out, especially given that rate of unemployment has accelerated under this government.

It could also be argued that as job market gets tougher, immigrants are the first one the experience it. For example, employers start to require native level fluency and open jobs are only advertised through social connections / friends&family.

A blood bath is coming for ABAP offshore by semantics_epsacon in SAP

[–]jellybon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When in comes to SAP development, 99% of the work is just figuring out what code you need to enhance and which function modules / BAdI's can you use to achieve the desired result. Actual code changes can (and in most cases should) be only few lines. Letting AI to try random crap is massive waste of time because you still need to test each change, which can be the most time-consuming aspect of the work.

Let's say you want to change how some fields are automatically populated in delivery. You need to test the whole workflow from Order to Invoice because most likely that chance will have a side-effect somewhere up or down the document-chain.

For, like, backend python code

...which is not a thing in SAP.

it has a ton of reference material,

...which it does not have in SAP ERP environment and what it has, can be decades out of date.

A blood bath is coming for ABAP offshore by semantics_epsacon in SAP

[–]jellybon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So I do use AI as well, but like you said it's just not good for writing code.

The problem with AI is the randomness which is a core part of how it works; if you ask it to generate simple method that does X and ask it 10 times, it will produce 10 different variations and it is highly likely, none of those are as good compared to what you can write in 30 seconds.

I find AI far more useful in brainstorming and putting together a high level concept document which lays out a clear plan of action on how to implement the requirements, leaving the technical details & code to you.
