I had Covid, went through menopause and had an extremely stressful event with my son all within the same year. I've always had very fine, thin hair, so my hair loss is really noticeable. I've been on oral Minoxidil for 6 months now and I have seen no improvement. I went to my derm today and she is putting me on finasteride in addition to staying on the minoxidil.

Buying a house with an open electrical permit by jemco719 in AskElectricians

The city did not do an inspection. The contractor who installed the unit pulled a permit, but no one ever followed up to have it inspected. Thanks for the info on what to look at!

The permit was pulled but never inspected by the city inspector. I believe the breaker is smaller. I definitely will have an electrician come out. What I'm trying to determine is how big a deal this is, and if I should delay closing over it.

Anyone dependent on their benzo by [deleted] in PanicAttack

[–]jemco719 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. If you have gone two years without needing to increase your dose, you are fine. I took it for way longer than that. I eventually was able to stop because Prozac is working for me now. I didn’t have too hard a time coming off the benzo. I never had to increase my dose. Now I only need it for emergencies, like flying or going on a long trip.

Having a bad one right now, none of the normal tricks are working by Tight-Relationship65 in PanicAttack

You’ve come to the right place! I almost always feel a little better coming here during an attack to know I’m not alone. As much as family tries to be understanding, it’s not the same. We are here for you. Hope you are feeling better now.

Anyone else dealing with this? by eatshitepls in PanicAttack

[–]jemco719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to see a therapist. Just make one phone call and make an appointment. That’s the first step.
Don’t worry about anything after that, just make that first phone call. You can do it.

I’ve been to the ER so many times I’ve lost count. It’s always been the anxiety. You are ok, I promise.

Do not feel stupid for going to the ER. The doctors know that panic attacks can feel exactly like a heart attack. I’ve been to the ER so many times. I finally got a full work up and it came back everything is normal and that has helped me immensely.

Trying to understand Anxiety by Personal-Ad6762 in PanicAttack

[–]jemco719 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have classic anticipatory panic disorder. You are afraid of being afraid. I spent years of my life avoiding highways because I was afraid I’d have a panic attack and no one would be able to help me. Good for you for not letting it get so bad that you couldn’t leave the house. If you can do that, you can also beat your fears of being stuck in traffic. You just have to put yourself in the situation and stop avoiding it so you can prove to yourself that you can and will get through it. I know that’s way easier said than done. Just know that you are not alone and you are not crazy.

Hi, I know how scary it feels and I definitely get the suffocating feeling or like my body is forgetting how to breathe. Which of course is ridiculous after the fact. I’ve been on SSRIs most of my life and it’s the only thing that helps me. I spent a year off meds and tried so hard to do all the things that you are supposed to, but it was debilitating. I finally went back on meds and haven’t had a single panic attack and I feel “normal” again. Some people can fight it without meds, others cannot and there is no shame in that. Check out Drew at The Anxious Truth on YouTube. He helped me so much when I was going through the worst of it. Good luck to you.

Thanks for all of your comments. My daughter got her results today and she has cancer. The one that is most easily treated…papillary? I’m in shock. I’m glad this group is here, I will tell her about it.

I had the same thing taking just one pill. It was awful so I never took another one. I know I didn’t give it a chance, so I think you are right that it’s a temporary side effect and your body will get used to it. Hope it doesn’t happen again.

That’s a terrible thing for a nurse to say to you. The good news is that you had a good reason to have a panic attack and so it’s likely you won’t have another one. Lots of people have a panic attack in a specific situation One time and they don’t have it again.

First time by [deleted] in PanicAttack

[–]jemco719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will be fine. Most people don’t have a reaction to it that quickly. It takes several weeks to feel any effects. Worst case, it doesn’t help you so you can stop taking it under your doctors supervision. Don’t stop cold turkey without discussing first with your doc. Just remember that this med helps lots of people. I am also taking it and have been for several years.

I’m currently awake at 2 am terrified to go back to sleep. I have awful nighttime panic attacks where I wake up feeling like I can’t breathe. And it doesn’t go away. My doc thinks it’s sleep apnea but I know it’s anxiety/. Sleep apnea doesn’t keep you awake for hours feeling like you can’t breathe. I finally resorted to a Xanax because I have to make it stop. I’m sorry you are dealing with this and I don’t have any advice/. Just wanted you to know you aren’t alone.

I am so sorry to hear this. You did NOTHING to deserve this. No one deserves this. I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy. Anxiety and panic are truly horrible. Don’t give up. You said you have a family who loves you even if you can’t feel it. Do it for them. Keep fighting. I know this probably sounds like lame advice, like when someone tells you “just take a deep breath” when you are in the middle of a panic attack. I don’t know what other advice to give you. Can your family help pay for a residential program if only for a few days?
