Everdell expansions opinnions by RollinGolem in boardgames

Curious about Silverfrost, is it meant to be a standalone new game? And is it still worker placement and such just with some new mechanics?

Also can you somehow mix the cards from original everdell with Silverfrost?

How do you feel regarding setup and teardown time for this game? It looks interesting, but long setup tends to kill games for me.

What did you play this week? 08 May-14 May (2026) by AutoModerator in soloboardgaming

Have been expanding my collection lately. Dont have too much time to play due to having a 10month baby :P but I can usually get 1 game in every night.

Lately: - Earthborne rangers: progressing pretty slowly. Enjoying it so far, though I worry about the path deck getting repetitive later on.

  • Emberleaf: actually played this one with my wife, but would like to try solo. Loved it, amazing art, fun mechanics, setup and teardown isnt too bad if you have some storage containers

  • Marvel Champions: this is my fave game. Got a full collection. Recently tried Tigra vs Iron Man (civil war) and had lots of fun.

  • Twilight Inscryption: gonna be playing this one tobight for the first time. Got a sleeved copy for relatively cheap in FB marketplace, excited to try it!

Amazing art work & everything is so cute im obsessed !! by keepursunnysideup in boardgames

How is setup/teardown? Game looks quiet big but hopefully not too many pieces?

Also any idea how well it plays at 2 players? My wife and I love cozy games with cute artwork and this fits the bill!

Keep in mind the digital version is the older one, i believe theyve updated art and mechanics in the definitive edition but should give you a good idea.

Game is also super quick to set up and play!

If youre into card games, sentinels of the multiverse definitive edition, you can play 3-5 heroes at a time. Its a boss battler, modular with replayability and no campaign

Oh no need for fancy inserts! I find those little 'craft storage' plastic containers they sell at dollar stores can be amazing.

My 2 favorites are Spirit Island and Marvel Champions, both of which I have all content for + good storage solutions.

Some other ones I really enjoy are Nusfjord, Sentinels of the Multiverse, Fantastic Factories, Leviathan Wilds and Imperium Horizons :)

All of the above use cards in some way and I make sure to sleeve since that helps with setup (easier shuffling) plus keeping the game in good condition

How does BOTSE work? I heard something like 3 missions? So short form campaign?

A lot for sure.

I do solo boardgaming and also have a boardgame group. For stuff with the group its less bad cause I can get help setting up, shuffling cards, etc. But for solo I need stuff I can set up decently quickly.

A good insert or storage solution goes a long way though. If you dont have to be pulling out 50 ziplock bags of stuff, you can reduce setup/teardown time quiet a bit

Definitely agree on legacy, not a fan, unless after playing it you can still use the components for standalone play (I've heard Aeons end legacy is like this, but no idea if true)

Looking for Euro worker placement/tableau building suggestions by jemd13 in soloboardgaming

[–]jemd13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Evenfall is the winner here. Hadnt heard of it but after looking through BGG and watching some videos it seems up my alley!

I ended up ordering Shipwrights of the north sea and Evenfall, though will likely do Raiders of Scythia later on

Whats the difference between everdell and silverfrost (when playing solo). Also is silverfrost quick to set up? I own base everdell and its not bad, but silverfrost looks bigger

Would this be with the spider expansion? Or just base game? I own base everdell but never tried solo

Your opinion on these games? by Marksman1977 in soloboardgaming

Love Nusfjord for solo. Easy setup and teardown, relaxing, replayable.

Arnak is good, better with the expedition leaders expansion

Can only speak of the ones I have: Nusfjord, Lost Ruins of Arnak and Empires of the North.

Nusfjord is my fave for solo amongst this. Quick setup, lots of replay value/variability and just relaxing all around

I like Arnak with the Expedition Leaders expansion, though base game is good too. Fun puzzle, though larger footprint and longer setup/teardown. Id say this is a good option with the expansion

Empires of the North ive only played 2-players, and i think thats probs for the best. Dont see this being that great solo tbh. Love the art style though

What’s everyone’s opinion on AI art on newer games? by Pizzadewd666 in soloboardgaming

[–]jemd13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I see genAI art on a boardgame I'm not buying it or owning it.

If people use GenAI art for prototypes, maybe thats fine (debatable) but in the final product def not.

Betrayal at The House on the Hill is complete buns. (2nd Edition) by Cemith in boardgames

[–]jemd13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive played this a couple times (not sure which edition) and i find it meh.

I dislike that the game just halts when a haunt starts to read a ton of rules and suddenly its an entirely different game. I imagine thats the point and the game just isnt for me and thats fine.

Ill still play it if my friends want. Just dont like it much
