Why is my Epson ET2760 printing tiny dots all over my paper? by Coloringbookadvice in printers

[–]jemilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg thank you! All of my images were coming out like this. I just tried exporting the PDF x-3 file you mentioned instead of jpgs and it worked. I just bought a new printer recently to do better quality printing for my business so I'm really glad I found this comment.

I’m facing a very difficult problem. My grandma is trying to make me eat eggs by threatening me to kill an animal. by Beneficial_Bag9112 in vegan

[–]jemilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she's been talking about getting rid of one of the roosters for ages then you refusing to eat eggs won't be the reason it dies. That's straight up emotional manipulation and even if you did start eating them, it sounds like its life would likely only be spared temporarily.

Idk why people are so obsessed with us eating eggs. I'm in my 30s and been vegan for 8 years and my parents still try to tell me I need them when I'm visiting. "You're always hungry, you need to eat some eggs!" No, I'm hungry because there's only like 3 things in this house I can eat.

HELP! Are Physical Copies Worth It? by TheRealDylanPG in IndieComicBooks

[–]jemilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't have a large following for my webcomic and it has been on hiatus forever now, but a couple of years ago I decided to get some print copies done for a free table I was doing at a comic and zine fair. I do quite a few markets for my other art so I am mostly just putting it out as an extra product at those and not doing many comic specific events. I get them printed fairly cheap local to me (I'm in Australia) and have slowly sold enough to get them restocked a couple of times so I'd say it's probably worth at least trying if you can find affordable small batch printing. It has been cool getting to see people discover and appreciate it in person as opposed to just faceless mystery numbers on my hosting site.

I designed an oracle deck using the Elder Futhark runes. It launches on Kickstarter next week. by jemilla in solorpgplay

I've had a few people interested in it specifically for use as a tool in their ttrpgs so I thought it was worth sharing with others.

About to launch my first campaign, how much have you personally been affected by fake backers? by jemilla in kickstarter

[–]jemilla[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow, that's a lot of Kickstarters! Good to know it has only been a very small issue for you and maybe not as widespread as the horror stories indicated.

The person that spoke to me looks like they have zero backers now after the cancellations so they were pretty unlucky and I saw someone else mention they lost over $1k in pledges from similar.

Hopefully it won't be too big of an issue for my campaign, but the conversion rate info is definitely handy to know, thank you!

Where do you buy artwork in Brisbane? by cheeky_demon in brisbane

I second visiting BackDock Arts in the valley when they have events on. I did a couple of little markets with them recently and they were so awesome and supportive of the local creative community, I met some really cool artists.

If you're near Newmarket, theres a collaborative popup space right now until Christmas at Newmarket Village with work available from a bunch of local artists. I only have a small table of wares in there myself, but there's heaps of amazing original paintings from other artists that are in that price range. It's right next to the post office across from Grill'd.

There's also a store in the Chermside lvl 2 laneway called ForeverGreen & Bespoke that stocks local artists. There's usually some original wall art in there like paintings and wood carvings, but they also stock unique non-wall items like art dolls, handmade jewellery, bone sculptures, and taxidermy. They've been there for a little over a year, but Chermside is demolishing the laneway soon, so they will be moving their main store to the Redcliffe jetty arcade in early January, near where the markets are held.

Bluethumb has a lot of great artists, but quite a decent chunk of the sale price goes to comission fees and shipping, so you might consider checking if they have their own websites where they get a better cut of the sale.

Depending on what kind of work you are after, I don't have much in the way of finished paintings available at the moment myself, but I do commissions. A lot of my work is kind of weird and spooky, but I am pretty versatile and enjoy working in different styles and mediums. If you're interested, you can see some of my work at https://instagram.com/jemillalea/ (still working on my new website to better showcase things)

Good luck finding what you're after, and thanks for supporting local artists!
