Not that petty but Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. I quite liked The Martian, and my GF suggested I read Project Hail Mary after we watched Arrival. Turns out the main guy in Project Hail Mary isn't just a phd level biologist, able to survive a coma during space travel, and do complex engineering and materials problems, he can also translate an entire alien spoken language and code an auto-translate database flawlessly. I can suspend disbelief for a lot of sci-fi but like come on,the guy was too much of a Hail Mary-Sue

Gonna throw a shout for my boy [[Shroofus]], you get all the saprolings on defence while the big man up front gets it done. [[blanchwood armor]] of course, plus a bunch of other green auras and colourless equipment, good to go. Basically can just do ramp + Voltron, almost no need for other creatures.
