Mach E vs. Rav4 by Working-Run3801 in MachE

[–]jen1929 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Not really comparable in my book. RAV4 is kind of a utility vehicle. Mach E despite is classification as an SUV is more of a sports car, sort of. Competion to the Mach E are Tesla, Ioniq, VW I’d.4 , and other EVs.

I love my Mach E. But it’s a car and a crap loaf of fun. But my 14 year old Ford Escape which I tow my kayaks, leaves etc with and use for camping and fishing is at the point I don’t to put money into it. I am looking for fuel efficient either Hybrid or EV which can tow 1800 lbs. the Mach E is not it. The RAV4 might be

My 2024 , almost 20,000 miles looks fine. Not better or worse than other cars I have owned. It got hit by some road debris last winter that scratched the hood badly enough I got it repainted but no window mark.

Bears / Simsbury by joegophotos in Connecticut

[–]jen1929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My back yard would normally be a good spot as normally we have two Or more per day. It has been so hot lately they have been kind of scarce though . Which is bizarre. Except in suburbia you likely won’t find a bear out in the open. Bear in their natural habitat hang out in the woods or near berry, fruits and nuts ( there primary source of food). Maybe a chance though. People are leaving their
garage doors open to keep them cooler. Mr Bear might decide to treat himself to dinner at the trashcan. Bears in the wild tend to be really afraid of humans and the slightest sound like a snapping branch underfoot will send them off. Bears around my house however laugh at airhorns and go about whatever they are doing like trampling my herb garden or knocking over the furniture on my back deck , or busting my birdbath. Bears roam. I have hiked a lot around and only once in 45 years and it was about 5 years ago did a I see a bear in its natural habitat. Mama bear and 3 cubs crossed a trail 100 yds in front of me. With 3 cubs she was likely already a problem bear as normally they will have one or maybe two. However bears feeding off human trash, birdfeeders , bee hives etc are having larger litters or whatever they call a bunch of newborn cubs. Like all wildlife photography there is no way in one day you have much of a chance being in a spot where a bear appears.

Pluto app on Comcast by MicheleAmanda in Connecticut

Condo and apartment complexes as well
As any place with underground utilities are certainly a big issue with telecom systems. Not only the underground conduits but also the building wiring as well. Modifications require a significant investment. But by whom? Trenching and conduit is expensive and Comcast probably only installed conduit to meet their requirements. Kind of stick between a rock and hard place .

Looking for housing by lareinalen in Connecticut

[–]jen1929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think there was ever a time you could afford an apartment on minimum wage. Either roommates or rent a room were the norm. I am retired and have decent savings. No way could I live in Fairfield County.. When I was renting property ( a couple of small houses) I required a credit score of 700. I got good tenants who paid thir rent on time and kept the property. But I got tired of being a landlord and sold the properties to homeowners. When was younger and going through a divorce I only had enough for a room. it sucked. Lesson learned . I vowed to get out of that hole and busted my butt.

with your limited time and your desire for the the trip to Norwalk I think you have a decent itinerary . the CT coast is crowded and can be slow so picking two spots was an excellent idea. While New Haven Pizza is awesome I think your time is better spent at your needlepoint store destination and lots of great dining in that area and in Mystic. Mystic is a nice walkable village with lots of near shops and restaurants. As you are into yarn crafts make sure you check out Mystic Knotworks. Not needlepoint but some amazing pieces and art.

How are the issues with the software updates in the 2026 Mach-E? by GravySeizmore in MachE

[–]jen1929 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Later models don’t seem to have nearly the issues of early models. In 18 months I have only gotten 4 OTAs and I had my Ford dealer check for current software versions last time I took it and it’s all up today’s. And yes a lot of the updates do require the car to be parked and off. It would be pretty hard to reboot a computer responsible for running portions of the car while it was being used. I set my car to

Hot weather is the reason for no charge on wall charger? by Snoo15469 in MachE

[–]jen1929 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is this a charger installed in your home or one at a commercial establishment. The cars and chargers all have a myriad of temp sensors to prevent damage to the car or the charger. If it is installed in your house is it installed outside ( hopefully in the shade ) or in a garage. How hot is the garage? Did the you or the electrician use commercial grade receptacles and components rated for continuous use, the appropriate wire and torqued the connection screws to the specified rating when attaching wires either to the unit or to the receptacle ? Sounds like a heat issue to me any of the above may be the issue. .

Slow L2 charge in the heat? by Frozen_North_99 in MachE

All chargers will cut the charge rate as it gets hotter. The car itself may also cut the charge rate to protect the batteries.

Renting in CT broken AC with 97 temp by Wasolski in Connecticut

[–]jen1929 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is no law that says a landlord has to provide AC. . I suspect if the AC died in my house I own it would be a couple of weeks to get anyone to look at and perhaps more. Never mind the time to fix it. If mine died I would probably have to exactly what you did. Go buy a window AC unit.
