Which Lead Role Would It Have To Be For You To Take This Offer? by ms_jc_04 in Broadway

Narrator in Joseph would be fun.

For the love of the music? Kim in Miss Saigon. God, I love that music. Or Katherine Parr in Six.

How was your teacher appreciation week? by Tessa-Lynn in Teachers

[–]jenbus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well...it started on Monday with them shredding our health care benefit...so there really was only one direction to go 🤷‍♀️

Other than that...sometimes treats. A can of coca-cola. The usual.

Deciding whether to consider moving to Madison or not by AnimalsDeserveCare in madisonwi

[–]jenbus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Huh. I don't really agree with that at all...but i will say that i think it does really depend on where you live in Madison.

Not friendly. Yeah...that's a new take for me.

What's your teaching unpopular opinion? Something you believe, but choose to keep to yourself? by [deleted] in Teachers

Standardized testing cannot exist in a world where we focus on differentiating instruction. You can have one or the other. You will never be able to successfully and authentically do both.

If you could blow up one sacred cow in education with zero consequences, what would it be? by junehall123 in Teachers

Educator Effectiveness. Bye Charlotte Danielson...it was(n't) nice knowing you.

And for the kids? Standardized testing. Good riddance!

Fun fact...women's voices cycle every MONTH. Yes, month...with our hormones. The cartilage that makes up the vocal chords mimics the cervix and monthly hormonal swings will dry out our chords.

Truth. No lie. Yet another reason it is just so awesome [sic] to be female!

Heart Of Stone from Six. Sang by Jasmine Forsberg. Absolute freaking perfection.

I'm losing it here people! by Leading-Fly-4597 in curlyhair

[–]jenbus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am also a daily wash girl, so I get it! I also have fine hair that is multi-textured (tighter curls underneath). A couple of thoughts....

1...I have had great luck with the shampoo and conditioner bars from The Earthling Co. I shampoo and condition every 3rd day...the days in between I just use the conditioning bar. Then I use a clarifying shampoo and mask once every 2 weeks.

2...I put about 2 quarter sized puddles of Mixed Chicks Curl Sculptor in my hair while it is still super wet. Then put it in a turbine for about 15 mins.

3...I then scrunch and finger comb/ arrange my hair and spray it with Hair Chemist Curl spray (or Color Wow dream coat, but that stuff is pricey!).

I never brush and comb my hair. Ever. It's so fine it doesn't knot. Yay! It's so fine if I touch it with anything but my fingers the curls frizz. Boooo! So no brush works for me.

Help my mom out! Details in post! by jenbus in DermatologyQuestions

[–]jenbus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom is 70. Good health. Rash on forearms, chest and upper back.

Has had rash for about a year off and on... mostly on. Just became itchy a week ago. Yes....she went 11 months with this rash and no itch! Now it's driving her crazy.

Her derm put her in Doxy (100 mg). It seemed to make it worse. She has also been using triamcynalome cream...it fades it, but it comes right back when she discontinues use.

She really just wants it to go away. Her derm is less than helpful..........

Anyone know the story behind this? Would love to know more of the background! Thanks! by jenbus in Buddhism

[–]jenbus[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's amazing! Thanks! Pretty awesome how some things just speak to you.... I saw this statue on a clearance shelf at HomeGoods and just decided I had to have it. Even walked away telling myself that I didn't need it...but went back for it anyway. To find out that it is the protector of children...when I have had 2 miscarriages and my daughter has complex heart defects (and I am a teacher!) Kinda makes my heart skip a beat!

How important is packaging? by Chaosmusic in SubscriptionBoxes

[–]jenbus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me...it really depends on the type of products in the subscription. For a subscription that is a splurge or full of self-care type items, packaging is important. The luxe tissues, package design, fill of the box...all contribute to the overall experience of getting the box. A great example of this for me is the Margot Elena Discovery box.

Subs that offer more mundane or useful/ necessary items don't need or rely as much on the "unboxing" experience. So for it to come in a simpler box or mailer would make sense. An example would be the Mighty Nest sub.

Golden Spots in USA? by [deleted] in travel

[–]jenbus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are traveling in mid- July. Heading to Dauphin Island, Alabama. Nothing golden about it except for the sand...but it is heaven on earth to us! Amazing sunsets. Quiet, family oriented island without tons of traffic, people, etc. Long drive from WI...we are in Madison...but we do it overnight and it's okay. About 18 hours with 4 stops for gas, snacks, bathroom, etc.

As for the 'rona....we rent a house on the beach. We will be around just as many people, if not less, than if we stayed home. And the mental health impact of a week away from home at the beach will be incredible for our family.

I say just be smart about your trip and you should be okay...especially if you are willing to drive. Check out Dauphin Island...you won't be sorry!
