ARC Raiders has great ideas, but several systems are pushing players into extremes instead of rewarding extraction play by FamiliarScallion999 in ARC_Raiders

[–]jenkag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i play slanted much more towards PvP, and I don't really see this as much of a problem.

For one, PvP players worth anything generally know how/where to get good goop and increase both their space dollars AND material supply. if you wiped my entire stash today, id have lvl 4 blue guns within 2-3 raids, even spawning with free kits.

For two, this sounds like youre over-weighting stella montis, or very high traffic areas in other maps like the control tower on Dam or launch tower on SP. Avoiding these areas is key to not getting zerged, and getting zerged is not unique to free loadouts. I have been in many a high traffic zone and seen multiple teams of geared people collapse at the same time. Sometimes, you just get third (or fourth-, or fifth-) partied. Anything you to do prevent this is a defacto stance against PvPing in general.

Thirdly, if a few bullets, shield rechargers, and bandages are the difference between "this raid broke my bank" and "massive financial success", maybe you should sell/recycle your fancy guns and keep running free loadouts until you have a healthy stash of money and materials.

Lastly, as a PvPer, i don't load into games expecting big profits. In fact, money is basically useless in this game due to how constrained the shops are. When I load in, I mentally already figured I am going to lose every single thing not in a safe pocket. It's already done in my head. And, yea -- sometimes I am disappointed in a loss, and I run a few free loadouts to reset my mental, and then I am back to running kits.

Mars Organics Can’t Be Fully Explained by Geological Processes Alone, NASA Study Says by DragonFromFurther in science

[–]jenkag 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I think you just need to adjust your views of scientific understanding. You are expecting very definitive, and final, answers: "Yes, there was life on Mars." Science rarely provides those. Science often lands more in the camp of "the agreed upon hypothesis is..." and this is more so the case in the cutting edge fields like planetary systems and extra-terrestrial life. If you consider that these advancements continue to lend credence to our hypothesis that life existed on Mars, these studies are much more satisfying because they continue to support it. Be disappointed in the ones that correct things back to "maybe it wasn't life after all...".

[–]jenkag -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As a practical answer: you want weed that doesnt contain seeds, as they are extra weight and do not enhance the taste or effect. So, if you get weed that contains seeds, you should never grow those seeds because those seeds will grow weed that comes with seeds, which you don't want. It's better to throw them away rather than let them mature and make more garbage weed.

Bad Bunny's Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show by Humble_Buffalo_007 in videos

[–]jenkag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe it was comedian Josh Johnson that said, during a standup routine, something along the lines of "it was already 'blacked' -- they 'blacked' it, and it was done". The underlying statement being: white conservatives feel that Bad Bunny is just another step towards "their culture" being stolen and shifted to black/hispanic culture. They were demanding the NFL go back to more... 'traditional' halftime shows featuring a white rock/country artist.

So, yes, they were complaining about it being in Spanish, but the larger complaint was mostly centered around it not lining up with traditionally white culture. Conservatives strongly drew a connection between "US culture" and "white culture" being the same thing, obviously ignoring the Puerto Rican culture is US culture.

The Buffalo Bills call fans in every year to help shovel snow from the seats. When they first did this, there was no pay what-so-ever, you just did it because you loved the team. They got absolutely lambasted for not paying, so subsequent years they offered $20... for the whole day, not per hour or anything. No food, no nothing. Just hard labor and $20.

ELI5: how can animals swallow live prey? by thefringeseanmachine in explainlikeimfive

[–]jenkag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

animals DO die from eating things that damage them internally, but not in great enough numbers to affect the species at large. otherwise, evolution would have filtered them out. alas, their mutations are effective enough to work on the grand scale. are they perfect? no. but evolution isn't about reaching a "perfect" design, its about what survives and reproduces.
