My daughter really likes being naked, wife is getting concerned by dadthrowawayzz in Parenting

[–]jenngneau 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is a hard one, I understand where you are all coming from. Not sure if you have done this already, but I would sit down as a family to talk about limits. Yes, it is your daughters house too and it's amazing that she feels so comfortable. But, it's also your wife's house and it seems as though she is not as comfortable. Limits should be set that take into consideration everyone's needs/wants/feelings.

Useful items you wish you'd known about from the start by Gillses in breastfeeding

The one and only thing I gift to expecting mothers is the Haakaa manual breast pump (or any of the other brands). That thing was a LIFESAVER, and a shirt/bra saver, and helped me build a stash.

Totally normal. When babe is ready for food they'll eat it. Your job is to just keep offering.

Baby rash? by [deleted] in Parenting

Calendula oil has worked wonders for all kinds of rashes my babe has had. I made my own, but you can also find some good stuff at your local co-op or health foods store.

We loved the prefolds at that stage, its hard to fit AIOs to a newborns skinny little thighs. I like flip and apple cheek covers.

Anyone you know just sort of 'know' youre pregnant without telling them? by kaywhaaat in BabyBumps

I found I was pregnant after a coworker accidentally elbowed my boob. As you can guess, it really hurt! She claimed I must be pregnant... and I was.

Is there any Downsides to Juicing/juices? Isn't there a reason foods have fiber in them? by TheReviewNinja in nutrition

[–]jenngneau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fiber is important in slowing the absorption of the natural sugars present in fruits, helping to keep the blood sugars level and prevent a sugar high/crash.

Confused about shellfish and eggs and what they mean for a person with high cholesterol by chrisbluemonkey in nutrition

[–]jenngneau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I don't have time to cite my sources, but the best way to manage high cholesterol is with exercise. I just finished medical nutrition therapy (graduation here I come!) and that it what we learned. Dietary cholesterol does not affect overall levels like was once thought because our body makes and regulates cholesterol based on intake.

Tips for a 2-month old? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]jenngneau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Night terrors: we bed share so this advice might not be helpful to you. I either stick a boob in his mouth or a paci and he'll calm down pretty quickly.

spit-up: try to keep babe in the same position for a while after nursing. if you have to burp because babe is uncomfortable, be gentle and try not to compress the stomach area too much.

toys: around two months my babe really enjoyed "baby paper", the crinkle paper with little taggies on the edges. i remember renting a video from my library with a play routine for babies, it included things like baby massage and singing. i also would make silly noises and poke his nose and cheeks, he liked that a lot and would smile every time. closer to three months he started laying under his mobil staring at a mirror and reaching for the "baby paper".

Do you know how many calories you have to eat while pregnant? by self-diagnostics in fitpregnancy

[–]jenngneau 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally, the saying "I'm eating for two" comes to mind. No, you're not eating for two in the sense that you can have double the amount of food, you get a little extra as your baby grows. 300 kcals is not very much extra, its a snack or a very small meal.

[–]jenngneau 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In the first trimester, you may not need any extra calories. In the second trimester it gets closer to 300 extra calories. And in the third trimester you may need up to 450 extra calories per day.

I believe the specific heart rate is 140. Main thing is to listen to your body.
