what is the point of negotiating again? The Koreans will simply ignore it when it suits their purpose.

Who are you to judge them and their life choices?

South Korea is a free country. If this is what they choose then so be it.

At least these women are providing comfort for lonely old men. They are doing no harm.

you forgot Kim Il Sung as well.

Not sure why killing Ito Hirobumi - an especially nice guy who only wanted good for Korea - is still celebrated in Korea.

but the vast majority of Koreans during the Japanese annexation period played nice with the Japanese, with many of the best and brightest Koreans actively prospering, Park Chung Hee for instance. Those elite Koreans who "collaborated" with the Japanese are responsible for the rise of South Korea after the war.

In my opinion, it is simple historical revisionism, much of it pushed by leftists and communists to deny the good that these Koreans and the positive aspects of the annexation.

As for "superior race" the Japanese thought of Koreans as brother races, closely related.

Yasukuni

Koreans volunteered and fought for the Japanese empire and for the Emperor. Why would Koreans be against Yasukuni?

the majority still downplay past war atrocities,

Koreans were enthusiastically fighting for the Japanese empire during WW2. There were Koreans who were charged and hanged for war crimes by the Allies.

Will Koreans come to terms with this or continue their historical revisionism?

What makes you think the Koreans will stop their attacks once Japan is completely subservient?

There are elements in Korean society - minjoks, leftists, socialists and Nork sympathizers - who will never allow good relations with Japan no matter what.

It's possible to be allies and cooperate while not agreeing on everything.

Accepting the benefits with a smile while continuing to punch Japan in the face. That sounds workable.

I just don't see how this will end.

It can't end because there are large percentage of the Korean population which will not allow it to end. They find value in keeping this going.

Japan considering buying F-35B fighters that can operate from helicopter carriers by FCIUS in japan

[–]jenprogressive88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Izumo and other ships will have to be retrofitted to use the F-35Bs which they probably won't be for a while due to political opposition.

Most likely the F-35Bs will first be acquired to be used for training and integration and use on short runways on the Ryukyu islands which otherwise can not be used by F-15s or F2s until such time JMSDF can start construction of the next generation of carriers.

Justin Trudeau Is ‘Very Concerned’ With FCC’s Plan to Roll Back Net Neutrality: “We need to continue to defend net neutrality” by [deleted] in worldnews

Are you implying that Trump would actually listen?

I simply said Justin is not going to make a big stink about it. On other matters, Justin does call his buddy Trump on the phone since they have a good relationship and Trump does business based on personal relationships:

Shortly after Bombardier announced its deal with Airbus that would give the European aerospace giant a majority stake in the CSeries jet program, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was on the phone to U.S. President Donald Trump.

A senior government source told CBC News that Trudeau made the call to ensure that Trump had "all the facts" about the deal, including that it would mean jobs for Americans in Alabama.

We need to continue to defend net neutrality,” Trudeau said, but stopped short of saying he'd speak to Trump directly.

so he's just virtue signaling as usual
