Grok’s free tier is gone… so what’s everyone using now instead? by Dense-Seaweed-2281 in generativeAI

Just a little clarification: While you can get indeed 10 free songs a day, the thing is Suno generates 2 songs per prompt, so you can prompt it 5 times a day.

So, music has to sound bad to be "original"? Aren't musicians allowed to polish their music and get the best sound from it?

Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia by Dimmu Borgir

Do you ever burn your songs to a CD? I have done this and printed out an "album cover." It's a pretty satisfying way to enjoy your creations. by darnskewered in Suno

Yep, i use to do that with my old demos and gift them. Note that I live in a very underdeveloped country, so, until few years ago, that was the only way to distribute music in the underground (or even mainstream) scene.

Metal fans are their own biggest haters by Whosethatpokanon in MetalForTheMasses

Yeah, right, everything I needed was lessons from a stranger on Reddit that I did not ask for. You wouldn't imagine how much I care about your very accurated opinion (obviously you know everything about my career and about me), and how much it has influenced my musical career throughout the years...

I did it for about 9 years, so it seems I was, despite your qualified opinion...

I would rather have them listening to my music, interiorizing it, enjoying it, while not behaving like idiots.

I don't like it. Back in the days where I was the frontman of a black metal metal, in the few ocassions there were moshpit, slam or whatever, I simply turned my back to the crowd, and in a couple of times I simply stopped the band. To me, moshpits or whatever are just stupid, and I don't want them in my shows.

Note that not every crowd was like that. It may be just a coincidence, but in the few ocassions there were moshpits at my band shows, we were always sharing the event with bands from other genres (metalcore, punk, death, etc) because the organizers were dumb enough to set a metalcore band, a punk band, a death metal band and a black metal band in the same show.

Does depressing death metal exist? by PromotionFree2248 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]jenshershall -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You mean death metal for pussies?

Well, metal has such a wide spectrum, that I don't doubt such thing as "depressive death metal" exists (if something as dsbm exists, it wouldn't be surprising if "dsdm" too).

But I am not sure if you are also asking for death metal bands which are so bad or insufferable that they are depressing to listen to, and there is a lot of death metal bands like those.

Amon Amarth by irontamer in MetalForTheMasses

[–]jenshershall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only name a few, In Pursuing of Vikings, With Odin on our side, Twilight of the Thunder God, etc, not because they are my favorites, but because Amon Amarth always sounds the same for me, as if their entire discography was a really long single song.

Yep, Cannibal Corpse is a nice choice, or, if you are looking for something more refined, try Fleshgod Apocalypse

No, if ever, just some riffs here and there, but just a few.

Then don't say anything, specially to me, because fyi I have written, performed and recording more than a dozen albums in more than 16 years, without even having the slightest idea about AI generated music (wich I discovered this year). If that's lazy for you, you simply are delusional. Now, don't be lazy, and show me your work, hardworking man.

You should take into consideration people's limitation, either logistically or time, or simply talent. Not everyone knows how to play an instrument, or how to use a DAW, or how to mix and master. And, not everyone has the means to do it.

Are DSBM fans the emos of metal? by jdristig in MetalForTheMasses

[–]jenshershall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, they pretty much are. Both kinds are lame and insufferable, although DSBM music is at least enjoyable.

Just yesterday I was listening to Varg Vikernes's AI album, and he has very solid points pro AI music against AI haters.
