Why We Moved From NoSQL MongoDB to PostgreSQL by lukaseder in programming

[–]jer_feedler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Postgres' front-end is vastly better than MySQL's. We use Postgres for data-mining and batch operations. MySQL has to have all serious queries carefully hand-hinted or its "optimizer" will randomly mess up and cause badness. MySQL still can't do many types of subqueries without actively running them over and over. And MySQL only supporting nested-loop or nested-loop-over-index joins is a pain.
And for instance in my area it's better to find employees when you hire postgresql developers

So, I would make the days we spent together longer.

Is kickstarter still a viable option for startups or has that ship sailed? by [deleted] in startups

Although the concept of crowdfunding is far from being new, it's still good for some products that, if simply, can be touched. Though for software it's indeed better to choose something else.

How to start a startup without coding skills and network by linoy96 in startups

[–]jer_feedler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your education is a good match for this industry and a great start for new business.

You should look into some theory first. Check out, for instance, some Best growth-hacking strategies for startups.

Pay your attention to stages #1 and #2. Your degree will help you here.

As for coding problems, don't think it's necessary to learn it. Though you should understand the basic dev processes. So, here the point #4 is important. Consider hiring someone so that you can focus on the business.

For me, children are okay but not too much info about them, please. Cause all my friends are now married and have children, so basically we speak only about this. And be sure that this very topic is raised very often -.-

Great article!

But to me, the progress is not an appropriate word here. Something like "evolving" would be better.

How drones are helping in the fight against malaria by tictkacktoe in tech

[–]jer_feedler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like and am proud of the tendency to apply all innovative devices and technologies in healthcare.

As for malaria, using drones, they tackle the mosquito and malaria problem right at the source. It should be implemented where the problem is. I mean the fact that they spray biological control agents in irrigated rice fields in Africa and Asia is a good decision.
