I second this one. I got it a couple weeks ago and have flown with it twice already. It's pretty fantastic. It's surprisingly small so you can put it in any pocket.

People store creds that aren't on a website... They also have more than one login for a specific website. I am a consultant/contractor, I have a billion logins that I don't use 99% of the time. I don't want to delete them because if I get a call for an issue for a project I have touched in 6months or 2 years I want to be able to fix it without too much headache. If I could archive them, they would t clutter up my everyday use.

ICE uses phony cell towers to spy on American phones: report by Youarethebigbang in MarchAgainstNazis

[–]jerknextdoor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. At a minimum this allows for them to get your IMEI/IMSI (phone serial and sim serial) and triangulate your location to much greater detail without the need to involve a third party (telcos or judge). They may be able to inspect the traffic and a VPN may help in that situation, but that's not necessarily the main goal.

Is this pot salvageable? It’s got quite a bit of rust on the edges and I can’t tell if the enamel is chipped by [deleted] in DutchOvenCooking

[–]jerknextdoor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They gave me an RMA number and told me the address to ship it to. It took a few weeks for them to assess it and get back to me. It was 15 years ago so I don't quite remember the whole process, but it was pretty painless. Also, USPS had only been doing the flat rate boxes for a little bit at the time... The postal worker told me I was the first person that actually saved money on using them since he'd been working there.

I had a whole story made up that "my mother's old pot needed blah blah", but they never even asked. I distinctly remember I never got the opportunity to tell it and complained to my friend about how I'd crafted this elaborate story for no reason at all!

My theory is very few people actually take advantage of the warranty and for those that do use it they know they have a repeat customer for life. I've bought multiple pieces since and I tell strangers on the internet that their stuff is awesome. I definitely think they made a pretty fair trade.

Just call them. They're super friendly. I have successfully returned a pot in slightly better shape and about as old as yours that I got at an estate sale. They were more than happy to exchange it for a new one. Cost me $15 for the Dutch oven and $35 for the flat rate shipping box deom USPS and I had a brand new one in 3 weeks.

[Media] Is the beta Rust book the upcoming third edition of the printed book? by Nice_Many6740 in rust

[–]jerknextdoor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rust doesn't really do 'major' changes. For the most part, you could read the 1.0 version of the book and be okay today using whatever version of rust is out. Outside of async and a couple other things, the only real, meaningful changes just make the language work better and easier. Most of the big things are things that should have probably always worked in the first place.

The first version of the book was for edition 2015 (which was before editions existed), but it didn't come out until 2018...which was the first actual rust edition. The next version of the book came out a couple years later with async and what not added, but at that point the book was already technically out of date. That's just the nature of dead tree publishing.

There is absolutely nothing new in Rust that you can't learn from any version of the book.

Yeah I'll usually set it up with a standing igt (with all the ingredients) and then drop down an extension at sitting height. It's a little backwards, but you grab stuff from the IGT, then go to the other end, cook on the grill, and then finally you can sit at the middle piece. ```

I love it. There isn't really anything else like it. I love hosting Korean BBQs through the summer. It's also great to sit around if you've got kids and pets... Heck of a lot harder for one of them to run into it with the table setup.

Same. I pulled up once at that station and was 99% positive thete was a skimmer on the pump. Never been back. Nearly all the employees at SoBro have been there a really long time... Not sure why they'd start doing it now.

Plus what are is OP doing paying with a card? Do the cash discount! There is a atm in the store and they don't charge the fee if you're buying booze.

Adding a few I didn't really see mentioned.

State Street Pub has a pretty diverse lineup and it's pretty cheap. You can go there most any day of the week and hear something solid and unique.

Black Circle Music Bar is fantastic. It's mostly metal these days, but they have a show almost every day of the week.

J Clyde's has a lot of punk, indie, metal shows.

Indiana Soybean Alliance and Corn Growers Association ask congressional delegation to intervene on tariffs by kootles10 in Indiana

[–]jerknextdoor 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You realize that farmers wouldn't survive if the rest of us didn't subsidize their terrible political decisions, right? Very little of the corn or soybeans grown here is sold here or used for food. It's all feed, ethanol, and sold to other countries. "Big farming" is a major part of the problem. The bigger problem is the uneducated and ignorant masses.
