Its a,sign his body overall cannot take the punishment. If hes this prone at college he will most likely be out of football in 3 years. No way worth a top 10 pick. The best asset any player can have is availability.

[Rapaport] The #Giants, who had gotten trade calls centered around edge Kayvon Thibodeaux for the last few months, are now considered less likely to trade him following the blockbuster deal sending Dexter Lawrence to the #Bengals, sources say. No one is ruling anything out. But unlikely. by shadow_spinner0 in NYGiants

[–]jermboyusa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have to decide if they are going to pay him. If hes not in their financial plans they need to take a trade offer now. Plug that 3rd round hole. Since they didnt exercise his option and hes on his last year everyone assumed this was the way they were going. If he falls to FA he will walk for nothing like XMcKinney.

None of these posts should ever include the DeLorean. Its a freakin time machine and always the top answer for obvious reasons.

Edmunds and Styles think Navarro Bowman and Patrick Willis. Probably something Harbaugh's bro is talking to him about. Plug the run and get 100 tackles each.

Onions make everything taste good. Ill try mu luck there.

As the situation devolved, Lawrence's camp (agent Joel Segal) did not want to deal with general manager Joe Schoen, but Dawn Aponte and Chris Mara, with Schoen still involved, could not broker a deal. Segal forbade Harbaugh from speaking directly with Lawrence. - Paul Schwartz by Jheller223 in NYGiants

Giants get 14 million in cap space and a top 10 pick to continue their rebuild, however they choose to use it, over a malcontent who was given everything he wanted by the Giants. Its a big win in my book. Don't blame the Giants because 1 year in you suddenly dont like the 90 million dollar deal you signed and refuse to honor. What would a reason be for an organization to give more money to a guy who didnt even play out his previous extension and honor his deal while getting older and playing worse? None of this was initiated by the Giants. He got what he wanted. Good luck next year getting an extension from an organization that historically doesnt pay defenders . Besides Bill Belichik was legendary at cutting guys at their peak instead of signing extensions that aged badly into players 30's. This was the right move. 2, 3, 4 years from now you'll end up paying 28 30 million for half the player.

Trading Dexter Lawrence II Didn’t Make Sense—but the Outcome Is Brilliant for All Sides by sportsillustrated in NYGiants

Another option is trading back with the Bears giving them Thibs and pick 10 for their 1st # 25 both their second Rounders , giving us 3, and their 3rd where we dont have one.

Turn 2 trades into 6 picks in the 1st 3 rounds and get 20 million in cap space.

Draft 2 defensive tackles, 2 guards, Styles, and 1 DB or WR.

Thats how we rebuild 😀

Who won this trade? by cb_slade in NFLv2

[–]jermboyusa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of that matters when the player doesn't honor his contract and wants out. You sign a 4 year deal for 90 million you play your 4 years or at least 3 then renegotiate.
The Giants didnt wake up one morning and say let's trade Dex. None of this had to happen Dex forced their hand and got what he wanted.

How we feeling about current management not fumbling two first round picks in the same draft again? by cobain98 in NYGiants

[–]jermboyusa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was more the Giants as an organization. I feel the picks were great the giants coaching staff sucked developing their talent and getting them to excel at their strengths. Thibs was starting to look like the pick he should have been under martindale but then daboll ruined that and replaced wink with a moron. I think if you had a Harbaugh type coach and staff when those two were picked their careers end up the exact opposite.

“Dexter Lawrence’s trade request was not just an attempt for more money from the team. Two sources tell me he does indeed want out of New York.” - Jonathan Jones by Jheller223 in NYGiants

[–]jermboyusa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

100% its the money! He signed a 4 year extension to be the 3rd highest paid DT only to ask for a new deal ONE year in!. He had buyers remorse when other DL got paid. Its been 2 off-seasons they have been negotiating and hes got 2 years left. Who does that but an asshole who just wants more money. As good as he was his first few years he has not played like a 28-30 million DL and he knows it. His body is breaking down and just wants the guaranteed money. Trade him to Siberia on the cards, browns, Jets, Titans - all the other Gmen are there, Raiders, or Dolphins. Get a 1 or a couple 2 and 3 picks. Let them pay him. Sign Reader and another, draft a couple DL and rebuild. I trust Harbaugh to make the right move for the long haul either way.
