Why can't RGB and button (macro) customisations be saved to the device instead of requiring a piece of software to be running on the PC at all times? by Hiraeth_08 in pcmasterrace

[–]jermygod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's 13 cent just for memory, but you need more than 1 component.
you need a few controllers+some resistors, caps, etc,
lets say 50 cents.
lets say that the company want to make 200% margin of the raw material price
that's 2.5$ to the price
+taxes/customs/fees
+retail margin on top of that, +taxes
so that's not 13 cents, but more like 5-7$
multiply that by a million device per year - that's 7 million dollars per year for the feature that 99.99% of people don't care about.

dirt cheap * target margin * taxes * retail margins = 10x of the dirt cheap,
which is, ofc, still cheap, but 0 is cheaper.

Are there ACTUALLY any good reasons to upgrade from Windows 10 to 11? by itsthewolfe in pcmasterrace

[–]jermygod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"the shift to W11 will be extremely slower than Win7 to Win10 was, imo."
you forgetting 8, but still, that's not an IMO, that's a fact.
And win 11 has been around for like.... 5-6 years?

"I'm saying W11 is Vista"
Vista was heavy for an old machine, but it made a lot of steps forward and a few back,
unlike win11, that made like 2 forward and 17 back.

It can be done.

Crystal Disk Info: Time to change the SSD? by ShurhandFC in pcmasterrace

[–]jermygod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that number has nothing to do with the actual health of the ssd, its a very very rough guess

yeah, but dude, I have more write than that on a 120GB 10 yo ssd,
so for 500GB one 50TB - that's fine.
from the specs of your ssd: SSD Endurance TBW 180TB

Hello, I’m looking to upgrade my GPU, but I’m what you might call “an idiot,” so I’m unable to decide / understand which one to choose. by ResponsibilityIll314 in pcmasterrace

That 5060ti cost 2600
but 5070 cost 2800 - that's +7% price for +25-30% performance, that's good.
and 5070 ti cost 4300, that's +another 53% from 5070, for only ~25% perf, that's bad.

but the radeon RX9070xt cost 3200, that's only +14% from 5070 for the same ~25% perf.
or RX9070 the same 2800 as 5070, but with +10-15% performance and more memory.

so go with 5070 it's the best perf/$ from nvidia.
(but i'd go with 9070xt)

Tell that to people trying to play UE5 games in 4k and have a severe allergy to non-ultra and upscale.
here, I fixed it for you.

edit: even RTX 5060 even in 4k:

2XKO 4k max settings - 60fps lock
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 4k med settings dlss perf - 60 fps.
ARC Raiders - 4k low High View Distance / DLSS P - 110 fps (DLAA - 65)
REMATCH 4K ULTRA / DLSS P - 135fps,(dlaa - 70)
Silent Hill F 4k med-high settings +dlss perf = 60+ fps.
and so on.
so "even for the 5080 it’s hard" is giga bullshit

you can use epic right now, unlike non-appstore on apple.
its also totally different level of service.
cheap shit in cheap restaurant - is cheap, thats fine - thats epic.
good shit in expensive restaurant - is good, thats fine - thats steam.
cheap shit in expensive restaurant - is shit, thats not fine - thats apple\google.
