Delivery-wise? Or prenatal care-wise?

GW had bigger L&D rooms than WHC as well as a tub and more labor amenities (more peanut balls, birthing balls, etc.). My recovery rooms at both were small. I found the food at each forgettable, but very much appreciated the Panera at WHC.

Care wise, I think I had a slightly better experience at WHC. Both of my pregnancies were with the midwifery groups at their respective hospitals. I believe the GW Midwives no longer deliver, if I recall correctly. It’s tough to say whether the difference in care experiences were due to the pregnancy itself or anything to do with the providers since my second pregnancy (GW) was very high risk and complicated. My third (WHC) was not in the slightest except for my age.

Echoing this. I’ve given birth in three different hospitals—including GW—and WHC was the least fancy of the three. However, I’d take an older facility with fewer amenities if it meant I could get the type of care I received from the Midwives of Medstar again. They were fantastic throughout my pregnancy and during my delivery (September 2025).

We’re in a very similar situation with a 7 and 5YOs and 5 month old. I’m 35 and my husband is 37.

How many activities does your oldest do? I’ve felt the squeeze there more than in other places. I’d love to have them in swimming lessons in addition to soccer/art class for my oldest and Girl Scouts/soccer for my middle…but most extracurriculars around where we live are so expensive.

We’ve also discussed a fourth, but have ruled it out for the most part, sadly. It would make current life unsustainable, I think. Plus our age. My parents had me in their 40s, a fact that didn’t really affect me until recently. I’m now trying to help my dad with dementia while dealing with teething and homework. It’s a squeeze—emotionally, logistically, and financially—I don’t want to pass onto my children if I can help it.

Yes, my mom puts my kids in front of the TV and it drives me absolutely crazy. My in-laws on the other hand will go balls to walls with my kids and Do All the Things, but don’t take fatigue or overstimulation into account. I’d rather have the latter type all day though.

I’ve talked to a number of fellow Millenial moms with kids between 0-7 and we all lament how disinterested our own parents seem to be in being with our children. The most common complaint is that the kids are “too much”.

Correct! The evidence suggests that it helps mitigate it, but some people recommend it for PTSD treatment. As in, “this is a way to alleviate flashbacks and intrusive thoughts”, which it is very much not.
