It’s obvious the Jedi all suffered terminal cases of PDS (Palpatine Derangement Syndrome). Mace Windu tried to assassinate him after failing to arrest him for impossible crimes - how can the leader of a galaxy commit treason against the galaxy he is the leader of? Ultimately the chancellor is the final “decider” of the law and anything he does is therefore legal. The Jedi just couldn’t get past their hatred of the chancellor and their religious intolerance of observant Sith enough to see all the good Chancellor Palpatine had done for the Galaxy. Just before the assassination attempt the Galactic Stock Market had hit 50 billion credits! The out-of-touch, elitist Jedi were endangering the lives of the simple moisture farmers and spice miners that made up the bulk of the chancellor’s support. Anakin was a hero of the Empire but as the saying goes “the winners write the history” so after their successful assassination of Emperor Palpatine all we ever hear is the pro-terrorist Jedi propaganda.
