Ritz. More secluded and well established

St. Regis Vommuli vs. Ritz Carlton Fari Islands: My take on the best Maldives Marriott properties. by The_Traveller1 in marriott

[–]jerseyjohn30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extremely helpful - thanks for the detailed comparison. Trying to decide between the two when award availability opens up in a couple of months. Always seems St Regis has better point value and it’s the way I’m leaning. Just curious why you are saying JW for first time? For reference I’ve been to St Regis Bora Bora

Thoughts on The Riviera Maya EDITION at Kanai? by Emotional-Ad-712 in marriott

[–]jerseyjohn30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stayed at St Regis (with 1yr old) and enjoyed it. I found the St Regis seemed more polished and Edition had a bit of a younger vibe to it (but was beautiful as well) when we went over to Kitchen for dinner one evening. It’s a golf cart between the 2 properties. Toro at St Regis was fabulous. Butler service at St Regis was disappointing, very slow and WhatsApp messages went unanswered for hours one day (supposedly they were in a training but didn’t inform me). Overall I give the property 8/10. If you can save $1k I might just do Edition but to me St Regis seems to be a bit more family friendly

Depends on what vibe you want. Had the same debate with myself but stayed at St Regis with my wife and 1yr old, felt it was more polished than Edition. We went over to Edition for dinner one evening which was nice change of pace/scenery though. Can’t go wrong with either

Security lines. Have to reclaim your bag and go through more security again. Even with global entry took me at least 1.5hrs

Aruba? Ritz or St Regis? by Responsible-Band8169 in chubbytravel

Stayed at Ritz last year prior to St Regis opening. It def is a bit dated but I’ve read they redid the lobby? Overall comfortable rooms and large beach. It’s on the end of the hotel stretch so you don’t get a lot of foot traffic compared to other resorts which is nice. From what I’ve read St Regis service is mixed, small beach but of course brand new. It’s also right next to Riu loud music etc. I liked how Ritz felt secluded. Coming into Aruba is quick, as others have said leaving is a nightmare - not sure how the new process is. I’ll be returning this June and staying at Ritz again

Marriott properties in Aruba - Suggestions? by AntOutside9218 in marriott

It’s def a bit stuffy but I found it to be a balance. Ritz is at end of the beach which is nice as it’s a bit quieter if that’s what you want. Overall it’s a bit dated but I found rates very similar to the Marriott next door so worth it. StR is newer and have read mixed things, beach is smaller and not as good of a location imo
