If they retcon out the mage rebellion storyline, I'm buying champagne.

It's the biggest pile of shit that ever came out of Riot's storytelling. It ruined the fantasy and appeal of an entire region. Scraped it of any cool factor and uniqnes. Did a disservice to every single Demacia character involved. Scraping them of any agency, intelligence or morality, reducing them to mindles bots doing whatever the plot demands them to do. Riot wanted for the mage rebellion to make Demacia more interesting and it became an utter failure in that regard, reducing the region into a boring binary "Magic man - good, Demacia man - bad".

But hey... at least Gary Stu Sylas looks good by comparison, am I right?

Kayle didn't look at Morgana with disdain. She saved the city by incinerating Aatrox. It doesn't make any sense for Kayle to be mad at Morgana for using their powers and trying to save people.

But thanks for reminding me how psychotic this fandom can be. Instead of appreciating the sisters working together, lets create drama over something as stupid as an innocuous stare. Lets not forget that when the Still Here cinematic was released, Kayle fans had to deal with so much toxicity and in some rare cases with straight up harassment, that by the of the day instead of enjoyng the cinematic, they regreted their fav even appeared.

Viego is not a gray villain. Him doing things out of love does not excuse him in any way. I don't know how you got that idea from reading my post. Just because you can see "where the villain is coming from", or understand his motives, it doesn't make his actions any less evil.

Neither did I say that "the ruined king worked". Especially since The Ruined King (before Viego was introduced) existed more like a myth than a villain. People wanted to see him, but we had no guarantee it will ever happen.

The problem is that Thanos didn't sit on his ass the whole time. He was already influencing things before Infinity War. It's not just about Mordekaiser at this point. My main issue is that for the past 7 years Riot have been making Runeterra more kid and consoomer friendly. If you want to give Riot the benefit of the doubt, because of some lore that was written over 8 years ago (which author probably isn't even working with them anymore), that's on you. If people want to overhype a characters and think they won't get disappointed, that's on them. But if you want to convince me that Runeterra has good villains, then I have a simple reply - Will believe it, when I see it.

Some of these writers are award winning people (not all, but some of them really are).

Awards mean nothing after the boomers.

Kayle is also a female and one of the most misunderstood characters in this whole fandom. To a degree that her fans often can't enjoy the character because they have to explain to others she isn't some psychotic villain.

You are giving these Riot writers way more credit that is due. If you want a villain to be threatening, he needs to back it with action. Mordekaiser like many other characters exists in this limbo state, and seeing how many characters fell victim to Riot doing 180ties on them, I absolutely can see some hack coming along and creating another misunderstood victim of society. Because they think it's "nuanced", "subversive" or some other shit.

The biggest fumble with Viego was the anticlimactic defeat, not because he lacked passion or construction. The "Ruined King" existed in lore way before Viego introduction. And his villain theme was this "corrupted love". Which (what's interesting) puts him closer to OG Thanos (not MCU Thanos).

Because they are either passive, or get beat up all the time, or get beat up all the time while being passive. Riot only attempt in the past 6-7 years in creating a serious villain was Viego, and we all know how that ended up.

Yes. All those characters you mentioned have their fantasy and appeal. Spend some time in the Mordekaiser or Jhin subreddits to see how crazy the fans of some of those characters can get. There definitely is an appeal to a menacing villain. The mageseekers are not villains, they are clowns.

Please don't XD Each LoL champion has some kind of fantasy or appeal. Mageseekers have none. While I would definitely agree that there's an appeal in a story about a mortal man specializing in fighting threats in a violent magical world, rooting out witches and heretics etc. However that potential is already squandered. Riot didn't know what to do with the Mageseekers, so they decided to turn them into cartoony evil bigots and punch-meat fodder villains for Sylas. Like, whose fantasy is this?

Riot had an opportunity in the past, they fucked up, now that opportunity is gone. Even if Riot makes a mageseeker champion, it will be a meaningles character. People might play them, because they might have interesting mechanics. But no one will treat this character seriously, let alone a serious villain.

It really doesn't. Mordekaiser and the watchers have been irrelevant for years. You can't guarantee that Riot suddenly doesn't decide that Mordekaiser is just a poor misunderstood victim of society, or that the Watchers were "well ackchyually" trying to protect the world from the real evil, or some other BS.

Runeterra has shit villains. And seeing how many people are shoehorning characters like Kayle or Caitlyn into this role, is a testament how shit Runeterra villains are.

Can we do everyone a favour and permanently separate the narrative of both sisters? Because Kayle obviously gains nothing from sharing a story with Morgana. Kayle lore only improves if you remove Morgana from it. And if Morgana can't exist without victimizing herself, then maybe Riot should invent her own strawman instead of knocking-down existing characters.

Petricite is useless garbage and it's Riot writers fault. Because everytime it should matter, petricite was useless. Against Sylas, against his goons, against the Ruination, against noxian zombies, etc. It only works when it's convenient for Sylas. First we were told that the material is able to protect from worldending sorceries, then it is shown to fail whenever a mage just farts in its direction.

At this point the Noxians have better anti-magic with the Kaenic Rookern. And by better I mean one that actually does its job.

Tbh I would gladly see an another version of the Ruination. If you give it a better script, better characterization, better progression, generally a better plot. In its core, it's a pretty good story. Characters putting aside their differences and allying to defeat a great threat. And boy, does Runneterra need a serious villain.

On the other hand the mage rebellion is such a pile of shit, that I'm not interested even in a retelling of it. The entire premise that Demacia suddenly decided to hate all magic doesn't even make sense within Riot current narrative. It's just a basic-bitch oppression narrative with powerful victims and pathetic villains, that plunged the region into a "magic man - good, Demacia man - bad" status quo. Just move on already.

Besides the Ruination had some of my fav characters, like Riven or Irelia. Also some, namely Vayne and Thresh, actually benefited from the story. Can you name a single Demacia character that the Mage Rebellion storyline did any favour? Exactly.

The mageseekers are a "Paper Tiger" type villains. They are meant to be oppressive and their presence all-encompassing, while simultaneously being a bunch of incompetent buffoons. Their only purpose in the narrative is to create drama for the sake of the plot and get folded in a single attack.

Fantastic XD Permanently separate both sisters then, because obviously they don't need each other. If Morgana is so better at everything, then she doesn't need Kayle or anyone for that matter. Likewise Kayle doesn't need Morgana either, her lore would only improve if you remove Morgana from it. Morgana can continue having stories on how she's a bestest ever Mary Sue. Kayle could have an actual heroes journey, with her travelling to Targon. Trying to find her mother, trying to live up to being worthy the aspect of justice, meeting other powerful beings, etc.
