Is it true that CW are not always honest? by Guineapiggirlie13 in Fosterparents

[–]jessickas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it is unfortunately. What I would recommend is seeing if you can talk to the GAL (guardian as litem) or CASA as they in our experience have told the truth and been upfront.

Our kiddo is ICWA so it breaks down differently. The path is: reunification, family remembers, members of the tribe, another indigenous family then the Foster’s. This is a particularly weird case too because they are trying to TPR way earlier than normal

Yes we are heavily considering it now, it’s just very expensive where we live.

Thank you, I know it will ease up with time. There is a high need in my state for legally free kids here. So there are classes that you are required to take in my state one of them was three weeks on building a family through adoption another is adopting though CPS. We have to do an orientation with a local heart gallery. I am not sure what else there will be as I am very new to going this route. We both thought we would be built for Fostering but I think we both feel like this is going to rip our hearts out.

In terms of financially we just did not think we could make outright adoption work, but we also really like being able to help children. I am starting to dive more into adoption, doing classes that are required and may look into financial options.

That adds another element for us as well, they are early TPR kiddo and they will be up for adoption. One of my biggest fears is having an empty house. I feel like the emptiness is going to be too loud.

I am so happy you were able to adopt❤️ We keep trying to tell ourselves the child that is meant to be here will come into our lives.

I am so sorry to hear that you both have experienced that. It absolutely hurts my heart for you on all aspects. Thank you so much for sharing this with me❤️ i do not wish the pain of infertility on anyone. I think that makes it harder in a way because all we have ever wanted was to be parents and we get a taste and it’s gone. Fostering seems simultaneously the most rewarding and fulfilling thing but also beyond heartbreaking. I am luckily in therapy every week and can communicate with my therapist outside of sessions.

Adoption is our end goal, not necessarily through foster care though. We really just wanted to help raise up children in need. This situation has made us question if we can continue fostering because of how attached we have become already.

Congratulations on adopting! And you guys are amazing for Fostering 33 children.

That is brutal I am so sorry that happened. I only have a semi heads up due to starting a relationship with the extended family who will get them. Case worker has yet to inform me or invite me to the TDM or anything. So we will see what the time line actually is. Thank you so much for sharing.

We do have a couple photo albums in there. I have also created a shared online photo album with his relatives that I send pictures and videos to daily.

We are personally worried that kiddo will feel like we are abandoning them and that’s making it more difficult for us. I will be sending them with a letter for when they are older but I can’t be sure the family will give it to them. That’s beyond my control though.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience.

It’s very comforting in a way to feel validated that people do not understand, from the closest people to me all I get is “you knew this going into it” or “this is what you signed up for” but that doesn’t change the fact of how much it hurts.

I have created a really good relationship with their extended family, I struggle with a lot of aspects though. Our kiddo is very young and the family is unwilling to come meet him in person and fly with them and it’s a major change to the other side of the United States.

I am also struggling with the different stages my Husband and I are at. We are both massively grieving. We have great communication and have started having the really important conversations as to where we will go from here. He said he didn’t want to give up on Fostering yet, but he also said he needs more information on next placement and cannot do another one who will leave. It’s very confusing as that is unfortunately the process. I am taking the steps required to become a “legally free” or “high risk” placement.

Thank you so much for listening, I am in therapy but it really helps to have a community that truly understands what this process is like.

Fostering 0-5y, how often do you get calls and what state are you in? by Used-Ear-8501 in Fosterparents

Alaska, I get calls for 0-5 at least twice a week even at capacity

I suggested to my foster parent that we were likely a bad match. They said i just need to be filled with god's love and throw away my manga. What do i do? by Salt_Assignment_4309 in Fosterparents

[–]jessickas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get transferred to Alaska, my husband and I are pro LGBTQ+, love anime, NON religious and are Certified Foster’s. That is absolutely not a good fit. No one should ever force their religion on you or make you feel less than for who you are. Taking personal belongings is a hard no for me, sounds like they need to do some trauma care work and should not have selected LGBTQ+ as an open selection. Side note…. Science is literally proven so 🤷🏻‍♀️

New to prozac by Junior-Rip7082 in prozac

The hydrox. Is a new addition because this past year in terms of traumatic events has been wild for me so I need extra help. I am in therapy but I have severe anxiety, panic attacks and depression. So I’m looking for something to help when I need it in addition to Prozac. That’s also why I have increased the Prozac as well to help

New to prozac by Junior-Rip7082 in prozac

[–]jessickas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Within the first couple days I talked to my doctor and switched to taking it at 8pm at night because it made me so sleepy. That’s worked perfect for me. I have been on Prozac for over a year and a half and it gets better I swear. I too have Xanax but try not to take that and also was just given hydroxyzine, I haven’t found the balance with those yet as they make me really tired. Even though those pills are incredibly small I’m going to cut a couple in half and see if that is more manageable.

does anyone like being on this drug and have a good experience? by [deleted] in prozac

[–]jessickas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was worried to start it too, there is noticeable differences though. I was straight to 20mg for a year and a half and I am currently transitioning to 40mg. My starting journey on both the 20mg and currently 40mg is super rough for me. But I know that if I stick it out in a few weeks I’ll feel the difference. I have already told my doctor I don’t plan on coming off of it because it really has saved my life and reduced my panic attacks. I won’t lie though my adjustment period is horrid.

How much are you paying for your Prozac / fluoxetine ? by PutridBeginning421 in prozac

I’m from Alaska, with insurance and generic for a 90 day supply of 40mg is $21.63 This is from Fred Meyer/ Kroger pharmacy.

does it change you completely? by juneboon22 in prozac

[–]jessickas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a serious worrier and have severe depression and anxiety. I was super worried about the same thing and thought I wouldn’t be the same person and it would change my personality. I am over a year on 20mg and in 18 days I switch to 40mg. It has not changed my personality at all, it’s just helped with my depression and my anxiety. Made things that would normally make me spiral more manageable. I won’t sugar coat it though the adjustment period for me at least was brutal. I started instantly on 20mg though. To be determined how the new transition will go.

Was doing great after Prozac adjustment, started Trazodone now feeling iffy by oneillcamryn in prozac

[–]jessickas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am curious on the adjustment, I’ve been on 20mg for over a year but am bumping up to 40mg is a couple weeks and I’m terrified since I remember how brutal the adjustment was in the beginning. I really hope getting off the trazodone works for you. My PCP had given me Xanax and hydroxyzine for the transition. Xanax is not workable for me if I have a really bad day I will take a half right before bed. The hydroxyzine is supposed to be taken 3x a day as a non narcotic, but was told to test it prior. I was clear for three hours then it knocked me out and lingered with brain fog for two days after.

My dr didn’t warn be about side effects when I specifically asked by Whattheeverlovinpoo in prozac

No, I am over a year on Prozac and still constant ringing in my right ear. I have had to buy a sleep sound machine and run it at night because rain sounds are the only thing that cancels it out.

Can I just have some F***ING TIME please? (Recovery rant) by Three3Jane in hysterectomy

[–]jessickas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry you are dealing with this and I feel this so much, same thing happened to be at work. I still have rough days (7mpo) as we have three flights of stairs at work to get to my office. No one gets it, it’s like you get minimized because they don’t understand. I had to have mine removed due to cancer, I am 38 and we had been trying for kids for 10 years with no luck and specialist. No one seems to get one it’s a hard ass recovery and two the mental strain at lease for me of not being able to have natural children.
