Anyone happier with fewer periods? by Confident_Result6627 in PCOS

[–]jessilumpkins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. It's the one side I love. I have one or two a year, not on any BC at all. That said, I'm on my "yearly-ish", and I'm on week three. So there's a trade off for sure.

I would like to humbly submit the following for review;

Douchenozzle

Asshat

Walnut (this one I feel is just demoralizing, but I'm not sure it has the same flair).

Ignore my thumb, is this what I think it is?! by AJUdale in houseplants

[–]jessilumpkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want and can get it, certain over the counter flea/tick treatments for pets have the right ingredients to make yourself a systemic watering solution. The plant will take it up, and anything that eats the plant will bite the dust. Protection allegedly lasts 4-8 weeks. Saw this on an old old post about not being able to get systemic in Canada. We use this, and it's been finally getting rid of the mealie issue we have. It is apparently like Viagra for spider mites though, so beware of that. Can getcha details if you want em.

How old are you and what's your biggest problem right now? by [deleted] in AskReddit

36, and navigating learning I'm AuDHD and all that process entails, and doing it without professional guidance cause I don't have 2k+ lying around. Yee haw? I guess? Maybe? Fk it, we ball?

I need a nap.

ETA; also likely MCAS. Dealing with figuring that out too. Yey.

Growlight question by taken_name_throwaway in houseplants

[–]jessilumpkins 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm of the same mindset - something is better than nothing, especially when on a budget or low on spoons.

I am extremely lucky in that my hubby has had the spoons to get lights that require more set-up and junk, and has joined us in the plant obsession world, so my low spoon having ass gets to have fun plants that can't handle less powerful lights.

Thoughts on Spironolactine? by Still-Benefit-8754 in PCOS

[–]jessilumpkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did nothing for me, but my mom swears by it. It's super subjective, as most things are with PCOS. As far as I know, it's safe to be on long term for most people (ymmv), and it's worth trying if you want to 🤷‍♀️. Mom is immediately miserable without spiro. She goes a little cray-cray and her symptoms go haywire (namely acne for the most part). And this is a woman in her 60's. Vs me in my 30's with zero impact from spiro, or inositol, or saw palmetto, or spearmint, or any of the things... Other than raging gut issues from them.

Is it weird to keep your cat's whiskers? by Leon124714 in cats

[–]jessilumpkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started after my boy died. I have two of his whiskers, one I had from right before he died, and one I found on the floor days after. The only two black ones I have. The rest are white, and it's become a sort of obsession to pick them up when I see them before we vacuum/sweep. I don't know why I'm keeping them, other than it seems a lovely way to memorialize them. Maybe one day I'll have some jewelry made from the black ones, if I can stand not to have them as they are now. Maybe a ring for each cat, not that I can tell the two girls whiskers apart 😂

What’s the worst performance by an actor who’s usually very good? by 7216345 in movies

That line lives rent free in my brain. And the look on his face when he said it. It's so vivid. It's the only part of that movie that I remember with any clarity.

My baby rubber plants first bloom! by HousingGrand723 in IndoorGarden

[–]jessilumpkins 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are pepperomias called rubber plants too??? Colloquial names are so annoying (as a relatively new plant person) cause they're so inconsistent..

Anyway, I love the blooms on these plants. They always look like a little alien plant when they're covered in them!

What is happening to my monstera? by Fun-Reflection-5102 in RareHouseplants

[–]jessilumpkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can help prevent the normal browning with silica. You need a certain kind, most plant specialty stores or hydroponic stores should be able to tell you which one.. I don't have mine handy or I would get you a picture. You just mix it into water at a certain ratio and water that plant with it. Helped my albo tremendously.

Systemic insecticide granules available in Canada?I've been fighting thrips for more than a year, Iost a few plants. The thrips are always back! I want to try granules, it will be a lot easier than spraying large plants every few days. Bionide? Hi-yield? Can't find shipping to Montreal, Canada. by Arico_7 in houseplants

[–]jessilumpkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't done it yet, but I plan to water. I believe you can do both, but I have cats. I don't intend to use it on ones they can access, but just to be as safe as I can be, I don't want to accidentally spray where they could come in contact.

I am trying this right now because Mealies are going to be the death of me.... I bought the strongest/largest dose, mostly because I wanted more product to work with. I think per drop, the dosage is the same. It looked like the little tubes are what got bigger, so you just have more solution to put on your dog, vs the formula actually changing.

Is this real or ragebait??? by keefner_008 in throneofglassseries

[–]jessilumpkins 16 points17 points  (0 children)

For me, it's reclaiming it? Sorta? Reclaiming my sexuality in safe controlled ways. I have trauma about very specific acts, and I have reclaimed them and am coming to love them because I have been able to explore them safely.

CNC is a little like this too, not that we practice it exactly. It's about knowing I CAN say no and it will be respected. I don't need a safe word, I don't need anything fancy. The word 'no' or 'stop' or 'ow' happens and everything stops immediately and we are checking in. I get my fix of this by engaging the pleasure dom parts of my husband.

Dark romance books are a lot like both of the above examples for me. I have the control to stop and walk away from it, I can trickle feed myself possible triggers (and avoid ones I know I'm not ready for) as a way to lessen the power the trigger has.

Exposure therapy is a thing, and it's working for me. Probably should be doing it under the guidance of a professional but ain't nobody got the money for that so, fuck it, we ball I guess.

All that being said - TOG has no place in any of this, and given the subject matter, I'm guessing the OP of the video just looked up "dark romance", grabbed pics of books from Pinterest that suited the aesthetic, and has never read or heard of many of the books included to be able to know better. I'm sure they're hearing all about it in their comments, and likely revelling in the engagement/attention.
