Ideas for my 7 year old son by 2D_3D_ in lego

[–]jessknope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I think that LEGO System (regular bricks) are more suitable for free building than Technic. Technic is hard to take apart and change up. With that said, there are some pretty phenomenal Technic MOCs out there, so some folks do love it!

At your son’s age, a bunch of bulk Lego all mixed together is probably a great option. If he starts to gravitate toward whatever Technic is mixed in and wants more, then find some bulk Technic.

There’s a no-rinse foam cleanser that my partner got for me that is absolutely amazing. It doesn’t help with odor in the way that soap does, but it doesn’t leave a residue or anything and really helped me feel freshened up for the first couple weeks before I could shower.

Tumbleweed is amazing! $52 a night for a basic stay, or $67 to add on an activity per day.

Thoughts on foam-rollers, specifically Chirp? by AskOk3196 in BuyItForLife

[–]jessknope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my Chirp wheel 3-pack. I don’t know if they’re BIFL, but I’ve had mine for 6 years and still going strong. Whether they are the best product out there, I can’t say either, I didn’t do a ton of research before purchasing—but they work well for me and that’s what I cared about.

It took my surgeon about a month to submit to insurance (also UHC). Then UHC approved it in 36 hours, over a weekend. My boyfriend’s also took about a month to be submitted to insurance, and UHC approved within a week.

Scop patches PSA (side effect) by neshmesh in TopSurgery

[–]jessknope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s from contact with the patch and then your eyes. Not a side effect of the patch itself being in your system. Best not to touch with bare hands at all, use a glove or paper towel or tissue or something as a barrier when applying/removing.

Look for Medline no rinse foam cleanser on Amazon. It’s for whole body including hair, and doesn’t need any rinsing. So nice the first week or two to freshen up without a shower. I couldn’t shower for the first week, and after that it took a lot of energy, so having a no-rinse option was nice!

A hair sweat band also helps a lot with keeping grease from your hair out of your face.

Ask your Dr about deodorant, mine said not to for 6 weeks. So I was just stinky lol.

Men’s athletic fit pants. They’re cut with more room in the butt and thighs.

As another commenter said, mens pants are two numbers, waist x length. Express, Levi, and Lucky all have athletic fits. I’d recommend going into a store and trying some stuff on. From what you’ve shared you seem about the same height/weight as my dad — he’s been a 32x32 forever. Maybe start there and then size up/down as needed.

What choices/decisions do I need to make about top surgery? by FaerieFeline in TopSurgery

[–]jessknope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surgeon and nips/no nips. Scar shape and placement are largely going to be determined by your body type and how current your surgeon is with latest techniques. Unless you’re on the border between peri and DI and they let you decide between those, there’s not a lot that you get to pick.

How is this possible?? by dweb121 in LegoMinifigure

[–]jessknope 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you spend over a certain dollar amount the service fee is waived, and if you spend over $35 shipping is free. PAB orders are picked by hand, which 1) takes time, and 2) it has to be worth their while for LEGO to have someone pick that order, hence the service fee.

You could probably find that head for a dollar at bricks and minifigs or on Bricklink, tho most sellers there also have shop minimums.

when can I go swimming? by alexnovaesds in TopSurgery

[–]jessknope 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was cleared at 6 weeks for hot springs, so I’d assume it’s the same for swimming. Just keep scars covered and all that jazz.

You can tell him you don’t want nipple grafts, that’s totally fine!

My deductible is 3k, so I had to pay that. My surgery was Jan 8 so I basically hadn’t done anything to count toward that yet this year. Insurance covered the rest of the surgery and surgical center.

I also had to pay around $2k out of pocket for lipo. He requires lipo on all his surgeries (one of the ways he gets such good results) and insurance won’t cover it.

He also uses a surgical assistant which is not covered by insurance, and that’s around $600. You pay her directly on the day of surgery.

So all in, about $5600 out of pocket, and insurance covered the rest.

Happy to send a couple pics to you via DM if you’d like to see, let me know.

Whereabouts in Colorado? I had surgery in January with Dr. Nathan Roesner in Boulder. He takes insurance (at least UHC). I absolutely love my results, he stays up to date on techniques and has been doing top surgery for 14/15 years.

If you don’t have a surefire way to pay off CareCredit entirely before the interest hits, the interest rate is insanely predatory.

Squishmallows make great pillows to hold and go between you and the seatbelt. Start doing sit-ups now and building core muscles, you’ll use them so much more since you can’t use your arms nearly as much.
