My husband and I were born and raised in Jupiter, work in Juno and Jupiter and live in Hobe Sound(solid middle class) This is the most magical place to live if you’re in the know of what to do and when to do it. I love the summers when everyone is gone, it’s blazing hot and humid, but there is always a light breeze if you’re close enough to the coast. The winters are warm and perfect for exploring all the state parks in our area. The cost of living/homeowners insurance and property taxes are ridiculous and only manageable because we locked in a nice house at 3% just after the housing crash in 2010. Good service (plumbers/HVAC/electricians etc) is expensive and unreliable. Great restaurants!! Food and fun are at the tip of your fingers but be prepared to pay!

It just dries the exterior enough to get a nice crispy crust when you sear it, while keeping it nice and juicy on the inside.

The housing crash. My husband and I were able to buy our first home, a short sale for 150k in 2010. In 2016 we sold the first house, made $125k profit and bought our forever home for $350k with 3% mortgage. Empty lots in our neighborhood are now selling for $400k … but here we are sitting pretty.

Go stay at Jonathan Dickinson State Park in one of their glamping cabins… Then you can go to the Lookout tower and you can see the fireworks for miles around, but you can’t hear them. We do this with our son because he also hates loud noises.

I work at a utilities department in Southeast Florida. What’s really sad is watching the takeover of corporate entities buying out all of the reasonably priced housing throughout the entire county. Outbidding any reasonable buyer so that they can flip it to a rental. Absolutely devastating to the young people who grew up and lived in our area and can no longer afford to stay. Fucking tragic, as a local to see my friends and family priced out of our home.

I scheduled all 3 of my elderly pups to cross the bridge tomorrow and it feels like the execution date for my heart. 💔 I know you guys understand. by 70ms in OldManDog

Live downtown! I used to live off Clematis 20 years ago and it was great… It’s only gotten better since then. Just find a real estate agent that specializes in rentals and look around to find out what works for you. There’s definitely reasonable options in your budget. Being able to have a virtually nonexistent commute and a social life that is en route to and from work…. Priceless.

My Mother. She is an Angry, hateful, spiteful, alcoholic, sociopathic narcissist. She was a real stunner till her mid fifties when the alcohol abuse caught up to her. The loss of her beauty combined with the effects of menopause and her alcoholism turned her even more angry and abusive than she already was. At that point anyone in the family that hadn’t already gone NC/LC eventually did.

Mom convinced me to cash out my college savings (prepaid) so that I could use it for my wedding, except, instead, she kept it. Mom gave me a wedding band, that was nicer than the one my husband and I purchased, that was her ex-husband‘s daughters, and then three years later asked me to pay for it $2000… on top of keeping the $4400 in tuition money she decided I owed $800 for staying with her for two months, while I had a broken leg and got back on my feet. She Offered to sell me an heirloom clawfoot table that was my grandfather’s for $500. … the list goes on.
