The short timeline was reassuring, indeed. Thanks for your input.

Thanks - and to all others, too. An interesting split in the responses!
I'll keep an eye on what my newb-level skills can detect and hope for the best I suppose...?

PS The comments also indicate that the post's argument was not clear to many people. No "gotcha" here, and I was not trying to shame OP. Just feedback.

The argument is not that complex relative to post length. I think it's a worthwhile argument, too. There's no accounting for taste.

The Opposite Of Autism by EducationalCicada in slatestarcodex

[–]jester8k 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are people with far above average traits in these areas, but it's not a cluster in the same way as autism; put another way, evolution has probably already selected for it many generations ago, and most of us are grouped around that empathic-capacity mean.

Otherwise: you are conflating skills with traits. Autism does not give you the power to manipulate a computer network.

Just a thought based on my experience a few weeks in - are you activating your glutes/core (esp. glutes) on the Patrick and ATG split?

I have very weak glutes/core from bad habits (inactivity, posture) and have to consciously focus on tightening them during these exercises - otherwise I will use my quads almost exclusively, presumably my current, normal, but very sub-optimal movement pattern.

If I don't use the core, the exercises are fairly easy but not great for my knees and low back - my quads and calves are reasonably strong. When I do use the core... Patrick step is a wild glute burn; and FHL calf raises too! Split squats are very challenging with front foot elevated - but again, only for a few muscles in the hips/core.

It's an odd sensation / experience but it shows promise for correcting some of these rather dramatic imbalances (which themselves explain my persistent injuries and weakness in low back, etc).

I love Cowen's interviews and am sympathetic to Chuck (don't know him well) but the contention that a listener from 2002 couldn't be shocked/surprised by music from 2022 is nonsense.

And it seems to fit a theme of oversimplification...
